purty.
Keys that had been mailed with
the invitations were presented to
the little host by each guest on
arrival, which admitted him into
Candy land.
At one end of the living room
stood a large red and white book
entitled "Candyland". The chil-
dren were blind-folded, given back
his key, anil told to pin the key
as near to the key-hole in the book
as he could. Peggy Hounds was
awarded Vie prize for this, u large
bag of candy.
Next they entered into a candy
hunt and a similar bag of candy

The Ladies Missionary Society
of the Christian Church met in
regular session May 3, at the home
of Mrs. Annie McLeod.
The president, Mn Bill Kyle,
was in charge of the business meet-'
ing The Sth Monday meeting will
be held in the Christian Church on
May 31 with the ladies of the
church to be hostess to the other
churches that day.

Miss Dorothy Matson gave a
very interesting devotion on the
theme "World Evangelism".
The benediction was given by
the society.
Refreshments of an iced drink
and cookies were served by the
hostess.

was given to Wilma Tuma for find-
ing the most candy.
The last game played was Fish-
ing for Favors. Each guest pulled
a string over the back of the di-
van to which was attached a num-
bered paper fish. Each child re-
ceived a small gift that was num-
bered the same as the fish, which
he drew.
Larry then opened his gifts and
thanked everyone for remember-
ing him on his birthday.
Pictures were Liken of the group
as they sang “Happy Birthday”
around the lighted cake. Refresh-
ments of ice cream, cake and a
cola drink were served and candy
men were given as favors.

Gross, Janice and Judy Orr, Bill
and Dan Scurlock, Hal D. Stanis-
law, Wilma and Jimmie Dick
Tuma, James Thomas Pearson,
Jackie Zercher, Peggy and Bobbie

guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mc-
Falls.
Walter Ridings, of Pittsburg, a
one-time resident of this commu-
nity, visited Mr. and Mrs. A R.
Avrett Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Perry Caldwell, of
Houston, spent the weekend with
Mr. ana Mrs. Mugn Caiaweii.
Miss Christene Brian, of Gid-
dings and Beaumont, was a guest
of Miss Irma Avrett this weekend.
Mrs. Buford, of Black Jack, vis-
ited Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Mathis
this weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson,
Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Barber, Mrs.
Eliza Barber, and Carlton Barber,
of Austin, were Sunday guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Barber.
Andrew Walker, of Hollis, Okla.,
is visiting in the Cary Avrett and
other Avrett homes this week. Mr.
Walker was reared in this commu-
nity, but this is his first visit here
in forty years.
Bennette Boswell, of San An-
tonio, spent the weekend here with
Mrs. Boswell and the children.
Miss Dorothy Campbell, of Con-
oley, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard j
Avrett and Darwin, of Rockdale,
visited Mr. and Mrs. A.. R. Avrett
and Billy Doyle awhile Sunday.
Mrs. Betty Joe Jordan and Mrs.
Bennie Mundlne were co-hostesses
at a party in honor of little Miss
Charlene Jordan’s fifth birthday
Sunday afternoon. The lawn
where many amusing games were
played, was decorated with vari-
colored balloons. Each child was
presented with a canary whistle
so the air was filled with sound.
After un interval of play, the
little honoree opened her numer-
ous gifts. Then the beautiful
three-tiered birthday cake was cut
and served, along with punch and
candy, to twenty-two children.
Needless to say, a good time was
Jiad by all.
C. B. Parker is running an ice
route through this and adjoining
communities.
Don’t forget the ice cream and
pie supper at the school house next
Saturday night, May 15. All
candidates, as well as others in-
terested persons, are invited to
attend.
