THE CTERO RECORD, Wednesday. July 31, 1151 I
“Hallo, cinco” meaning they
want 5c. We sometimes think
they learn to say “cinco” before
"mama”.
We were out painting recently
I and Alice and I were seated with-
j in 3 feet of each other. I turned
J; just in time to see a boy lift
Alice's wallet out of her purse.
' I let out a good Texas yell which
j was understandable in any lan-
I j guage and he dropped the wallet
j, and ran. He was very bold and
*! brazen, came back and hovered
| over us the remainder of the
: i morning and tried to steal a
I' knife out of Wallace Dreyer’s
. paint kit. This sort of thing is
II very unusual altho we are care-
. ful not to leave things too ex-
posed.
We went to a beautiful supper
i party at the home of an attrac-
,! tive retired American gal named
| “Cookie” Friday evening. She
1 lived in an upstairs apartment
I in one of the old, old houses.
She served 9-boy chow mein
. which was delicious and the fi-
nale was crepe suzettes! She has
a marvelous collection of hand
made rings, beautifully designed
settings.
Last Wednesday we mads an
! all day trip to Teguisquiapan
which is spa. There are many
hotels and bathing In the hot
springs is the main pasttime. We
wont Into one hotel and saw the
beautiful swimming pool, built
in natural rock formations, crys-
tal clear aqua warm water!
Attractive wicker or woven
straw is featured In this section
and we saw stores filled to the
ceiling with baskets, chairs, pur-
ses, table ornaments, trays Etc, (
very handsomely done.
We’ve had lots of car trouble,
on this trip, so as usual we spent
over an hour In a garage. The i
mechanics here seem to be very j
efficient even in poorly equipped
shops. v
We are trying to get our pack- S
ing organized today, but as usu- ti
al we are going to look like a §
car load of gypsies. Things are
so colorful and tempting that we
have bought pottery, straw bags, ^
tin articles, etc. But we have "

the rugged canyon-scarred San
Gabriel Mountains near Azusa,
Calif. The youngster, weary and
footsore, had spent the night try-
ing to scale an 8,000-foot peak.
He was whisked by helicopter
from a road camp to which ho
had made his way, to the reunion
with Ms father. (International!
