miles northwest of thlc city caught
a dryland terrapin back In lt'OO
and carved his Initials and the
date on the terrapin's back. The
terrapin was kept for tomo tlmo
but escaped.
Again In 1017 Mr. Blrdwell cap-
tured the same terrapin but later
It escaped a second time. On
Sunday. May 11 tho terrapin was
caught within 600 feet of the Blro-
well home. The shell Is worn slick
but the carving can still be traced
