Rain doesn’t dampen
‘Storage Wars’ spirit
CHRIS AGEE/INDEX
Bubba Smith, of the show ‘Storage Wars:Texas,’
was probably hoping to find a new umbrella in a
Mineral Wells storage locker Thursday after winds
and rain turned his inside out.The cast and crew
returned to Armor Self-Storage to film another
episode for the popular A&E series.

There was no "dash for cash," as auction-
eer Walt Cade likes to say, but "Storage Wars:
Texas" cast and crew members would have
liked a dash for cover Thursday morning.
Torrential rainfall and persistent lightning
strikes presented a challenge to bidders and
production staff when the A&E program
"Storage Wars: Texas" returned to Mineral
Wells Thursday morning.
The show first visited Armor Self-Storage
in April, later airing footage of the auction
during its second season premiere.
Camera crews struggled to keep equipment
and cast members dry Thursday, as they col-
lected footage for an as-yet undetermined epi-
sode.
Five bidders from the show - Bubba,
Ricky, Vic, Jenny and Moe, who did not
come to Mineral Wells the first time - along
with several locals showed up, undeterred
by the rain and ready for an auction.
After lightning struck a nearby transform-
er and briefly shut off power at Armor Self-
Storage, producers delayed the auction's
start. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain fell
Thursday morning, with wind gusts of 20
mph reported.
Despite the inauspicious start, the show's
recurring auctioneer, Walt Cade, commenced
the auction around 9:30 a.m. Everyone
involved had an opportunity to bid on eight
storage facilities. Camera crews packed up
and vacated the facility before noon.
Local residents attended for various

Auditor says moves are

PALO PINTO - To control rapidly rising
health and life insurance care costs, Palo Pinto
County will no longer contribute toward depen-
dent health care and life insurance premium
costs for employees hired on and after Oct. 1.
Current employees will see reductions in the
amount the county contributes toward insurance
coverage for their dependents. County employ-
ees will have to make it up at their own cost
through payroll deductions. The county will con-
tinue to cover an employee's group health and
life insurance premiums at 100 percent.
Employee health insurance coverage is esti-
mated to cost the county $1.4 million annually. In
the past, the county has covered premiums for
employees and dependents. But with growing
costs, the county has incrementally passed more
of dependent premium costs to the employees
