The Chamber’s 2013 awards were
rented.
Jacksboro High School Youth
Volunteer Award went to Jennifer
Newman. Nominees were Mattie
Damron and Darby Perry.
The Jacksboro ISD Educator of
the Year Award was given to Elaine
Jorgenson with Jenilynn Lewis also
nominated.
The Employee Customer Service
Award went to Banesa Tinajero of
Sonic Drive-In with Nancy Aston-
Lott of First National Bank also nom-
inated.
The Business of the Year Award re-
cipient was Faith Community Hos-
pital with H-Brand Feed Store also
nominated.
Frank Beaman was selected as Busi-
ness Person of the Year and outgoing
Chamber President Brad Burnett was
also nominated.
Phyllis Elenburg was chosen as Cit-
izen of the Year with Diana Dodson
also nominated.
Dr. Martha Hackley Salmon was
awarded the Gladys Johnson Ritchie
Award and Ken and Becky Swan
received the Lifetime Achievement
Award.
The silent auction netted nearly
$7,000 from 12 items or lots with the
biggest ticket items an Anita Palmer
Hackley original print titled “The
Storm” going to Jacksboro National
Bank.
Corey Swan purchased the item go-
ing for the second highest price tag, a
rancher’s package including 12 yards
of road base from Fitzgerald Servic-
es, $300 fuel from Grable and $100
feed from H-Brand.
The evening included a tearful fare-
well from Chamber Director Brenda
Tarpley along with gifts recognizing
her service. The banquet was Tarp-
ley’s last as director. She will soon
begin her position with the City of
Jacksboro working in human resourc-
es and tourism.
The new Chamber Director Char-
lotte Hasten briefly introduced her-
self to the crowd.
Chamber board members past and
current were recognized and 2013
President Brad Burnett passed the
torch to Mike Smith, incoming presi-
dent.
