The Windthorst Trojans de-
feated the Saint Jo Panthers
40 to 6 Friday on their home
field, and by so doing took over
first place in District 9B. The
victory pushed the Trojans sea-
son to 7-1 for the year and
3-0 in district play.
Mike Berend scored three
times and passed to Dale Hoff
for another touchdown as the
Trojans tallied up their points.
Larry Koetter scored two
TDs and Daryl Wolf kicked four
PATs.
Saint Jo’s sole score came
in the fourth quarter when Bob
Lofland piled over from the
one yard line with Windthorst
freshmen and sophomores mal-
ing up the defensive eleven.
In the first quarter, Saint Jo
drove to the Trojan five, but
W indthorst staved off the threat.
The Trojans will host the
Era Hornets this Friday night
in a very important district
contest. The Hornets’ ouly dis-

they were hindered by injuries.
Coach Howard Neeb is fully a-
ware of the quickness of the
Hornets, and says it will take
an all out effort on the part
of the defensive unit to con-
tain Billy Nash. “I think we
can win if we eliminate some
of the mistakes we have been
making,” said Neeb.

any title hopes for the Wild-
cats last Friday night as the
Eagles came out on top, 28-
12. The win by the Eagles as-
sured the Holliday Eagles at
least a tie for the district
championship and a berth in
the state play-offs.
Norice, a fleet halfback for
the Chillicothe Eagles, proved
to be a thorne in the side for
the Wildcats as he racked up
over 200 yards through the
Wildcat defense and had one
long run nullified on a penalty.
Archer City received the op-
ening kickoff and moved eight
yards in three attempts and had
to punt to the Eagles. An eight
yard punt gave the Eagles pos-
session on the Wildcat 43. Ar-
cher City’s defense on the first
series looked great as they
stopped the Eagles cold on three
thrusts at the line for no gain.
Casey Rodgers fielded the punt
near his own goal line and rac-
ed back to the 45 where the
last Eagle defender bumped him
8th GRADE KITTENS--The Kittens lost their bid to represent the Eastern Division
of the district by the flip of the coin earlier this week. The Knox City Pups will take
the honors. Archer City beat the Pups earlier in the season and Oct 29 they fell to
the Pups 22-13. Munday chose to forfeit the game to Knox City thus making a 5-1.
Knox City will play Crowell best two out of three games for the district title beginning
this week. (L to r.) bottom row, Leroy Campbell, Curtis Cox, Pat Sheppard, Tommy

From their own 45 the Wild-
cats marched to the Eagle 12
where they were stopped on
downs. The Eagles then mar-
ched 88 yards for their first
score with Norice climaxing the
drive from 23 yards out. Bar-
ry Justice kicked his first of
four extra points and a 7-0
lead.
Archer City moved 62 yards
midway the second quarter to
narrow the gap with Rodgers
hitting Rusty Denning on a 19-
yard scoring toss. Rodgers on
a keeper was stopped short on
the extra point attempt.
Near the end of the second
quarter the Wildcats moved
from their own 26 to the Ea-
gle’s four and a first down. On
the first play from that point
the Wildcats fumbled with Chil-
licothe recovering. Archer City
recovered a Chillicothe miscue
two plays later but time had
run out in the first half be-
fore they could stop the clock.
The visiting Eagles moved
67 yards in their first posses-
sion following the half tor their
second td. Norice capped the
drive with a four yard plunge
over right tackle.
The Eagles scored their third
td in the third period, moving
56 yards in seven plays with
Johnny Richardson going over
from one yard out.
A 32-yard pass from Quar-
terback Bivins to Kent Gram-
mar climaxed the scoring for
the Eagles in the fourth period.
Archer City’s Ward Campbell
set up Archer City’s second
td when he intercepted an Ea-
gle pass and returned it to the
Eagle 30. Randy Skinner pick-
ed up 16 yards and then Rod-
gers, in an attempt to pass
was dropped for a 20-yard loss.
Kerry Bowen, the leading
ground gainer for the Wildcats
with 129 yards, broke over left
tackle for 32 yards and the
score. A pass for two points
by Skinner fell incomplete.
