Notice is hereby given by
the Parks and Wildlife Depart-
ment that a public hearing will
be held at Archer City on May
4, 1971 at the County Court-
house at 8:00 p.m. for the pur-
pose of gathering information
concerning proposed hunting,
fishing and trapping regulations
for the above-named county.
As the result of action by the
Texas Legislature, the Texas
Parks and Wildlife Commission
is responsible for the setting of
seasons, bag limits, and means
and methods of taking the wild-
life resources in Archer Coun-
ty. All interested persons
are urged to attend and comment
upon the proposed regulations.

Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Byrne,
504 S. Center, spent the better
part of last week at Brownwood
Lake fishing. They were joined
by their son and his wife, Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Byrne of
Levelland. Byrne said after the
wind settled they caught some 90
fish and had a very good time.

Windthorst Society Hosts
Deanery Meeting April 29
Plans are near completion
for the Deanery Meeting erf the
N.C.C.W. to be held in Wind-
thorst Thursday, April 29, says
Mrs. Frank Scheffe, chairman.
This report along with other
business matters were taken
care of during the April meet-
ing of the Christian Mothers
Society.
Mrs. Ed Veitenheimer, pre-
sident of the society, presided.
She added a thank you for all
who helped to make the Easter
egg hunt a success.
May 18 has been set aside
for an all day sewing day for
missions. Bandages, hospital
gowns, etc. will be made and
members are urged to bring
the necessary supplies and sew-
ing equipment.

FHA President
Jackie Pierce was elected
president of the Archer City
High School FHA, at their meet-
ing last week. Mrs. Don Hor-
nady Is chapter advisor.
Jackie will be a senior stu-
dent when school starts this
fall and assisting her in office
will be Rhonda Hoggins, first
vice president; Bonnie Waite,
second vice president; Nancy
Gage, secretary; Donna Jack-
son, historian; Donna Hammon-
tree, parlimentarian; Diane
Geis, reporter; and Carolyn
Phillips, song leader.
Following election speeches
and voting, a film on canning
and home freezing concluded
the meeting.

Mrs. W. J. Bryan was ac-
companied to Aztec, N. M.,
by Mrs. Betty Coody, Paula
and Chad of Abilene, who came
to Archer City for the Easter
holidays, and Mrs. Harvey
Boone and sons, Larry and
Tracey of Archer City, to vi-
sit with Mrs. Bryan’s daughter
and Mrs. Boone’s son, Mr. and
Mrs. Jimmy Boone and family.

Zilpha McKee of Archer City
received a note of appreciation
from her niece, Mrs. Emmie
Pinkston of San Angelo, con-
cerning the funeTai of Mrs. Eth-
el M. Gafford which was held
in Archer City recently. In her
note she said “We were very
pleased about the card of thanks
you had put in the paper. The
people in Archer City were very
kind and wish we could tell
each of them what a comfort
they were.”

Visit Daughters
Mr. and Mrs. George Camp-
bell returned Monday from a
two-week vacation trip to Lou-
isville, Ky. and Fayetteville,
N.C.
In Louisville the Campbells
visited with their daughter’s
family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Matthis and daughters, Cheryl
and Angenel. Mrs. Matthis is
the former Mildred CampbelL
They were houseguest of their
daughter, Mrs. DeWayne (Phyl-
lis) Whittset and sons, John
and David in Fayetteville. The
Whittsets will be joining their
husband and father in Germany
shortly and will be on tour
of duty there for three years.
District of the Catholic State
League, held recently In Muen-
ster, gave interesting reports to
the members.
Following reports from
various committee chairmen'
and a message from Rev. Cle-
tus Post, spiritual advisor, the
meeting was closed with the
members present joining in the
reciting of the decade of ro-
sary.
