Incentive payment rates for
wool and mohair have been an-
nounced by Bill Sims, executive
directors for Texas Sheep and
Goat Raisers Association, after
Mr. Simes was notified of the
schedules Friday morning by the
U. S. Department of Agriculture
in Washington.
Sixty-six cents was the price
for the wool incentive support
in 19G7. The national average
was 30.8 cents per pound (grease
basis) whicti left a 2G.2 cents
differential. The support price
is G5.8 per cent.
This means that . all wool
growers who signed up for the
federal incentive payment will
receive an additional $G5.80 for
each $100 worth of wool they
sold during 19G7 marketing year.
$1.05 per 100 pounds is the sup-
port price on unshorn lambs.
The mohair incentive support
is 7G.4 cents per pound. The
national average price received
by growers 40.9 cents per pound,
a 35.5 cent per pound difference.
The support is 8G.8 per cent,
which also means that for each
$100 worth of mohair sold by
the growers during 19G7 market-
ing year will mean an additional
$8G.80 for those producers who
signed up for the incentive pay-
ment.
The total amount of wool, mo-
hpir and unshorn lamb incentive
payments for the 19G7 market-
ing year amounts to $70 million,
according to Sims. This com-
pares with the 19GG incentive
totaj of $33 million. Mohair
prices were down considerably
in 19G71 compared to I960.
