We will open this report with a
lot of "resounding applause" to the
Trojan "comeback kids" or the
Trojan “comeback young men”

We. in the West area want to
congratulate each and everyone of
you Trojan baseball players, plus
the coaches. Coach Fontenot and

with their pretty dresses! We are
proud of the way all of you were
dressed as you looked so neat!

Brooke Polansky as she signed a
letter of intent to play softball for
the University of Texas at San
Antonio. Thanks to Brooke for her
leadership the past four years at

was the first time a Trojan won this
award two years in a row! Lady

Chudcj; the Nikki Cook Memorial
scholarship was awarded to Ashley

When I was working last week, a friend dropped by with news for
me to print this week - yeh! Can't tell you who, you'll just have to
guess. You see last week, Marcella Klaus of Hoen had a birthday -
May 21 to be exact. It's not too late to call and wish her a belated
birthday, for you or me, "Happy Birthday" Marcella, hope you had a
whiz-bang celebration!
This week's birthdays are Sherry Brown, May 25 (my nephew
Gregg's wife or my brother Vic's daughter-in-law); Rhonda Machac,
(actually from Penelope, but we claim her), May 27; Mark DeHay,
(lives on the outskirts of Birome), May 28. Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you, etc., etc.
Last week the Decoration Day at Mesquite Cemetery, Vivian
Twitty Campbell went. So did her brother Horace Twitty of Taylor
and his wife, Billie and son, Terry, as well as Donald and Sandra,
who now live in the country near McGregor.
It's family reunion timeofyear! Upcomingin the Biromecommunity
the next two Sunday's is the Twitty and Campbell Family Reunions.
Not sure which one is first. Might give Vivian a ring to find out! This
upcoming Memorial Day Weekend is also the Sartor Family Reunion.
(My mom's side of the family.) We have been meeting for years in
Waco in Cameron Park at the Club House from 10 a.m. to 4 p in. Pop
in on any of the reunions, none of us mind reunion-crashers.
I received an E-mail from a new person, who introduced herself
and her mom, stating she always enjoyed mom's writing and was
glad when I took over. I will try to do my best. Encouraging words
seem to come at the right times and keep me going. Mom used to be
my main encourager, now she still is, indirectly. Thank you P.D. for
your kind words.
The Birome Church Annex "has had" and "is having" some repairs
done in preparation for The Birome Homecoming to be held on July-
18. Want to have it all spic-n-span for you folks. Come one, come all,
the skinny and tall! Seriously, for those of you who live here now, who
used to live here, or knows somebody who did and wants to see them
- come! We would love to have you come to church first and join in
on the "purdiest singing" and get a little of that "Old Time Religion"
before going over to the annex to eat. By the way, don't forget to bring
your favorite covered dish, that's how we have such fantastic spreads
each year. I will try to remember to remind you again, but just in
case, why don't you mark your calendar NOW!
I have a correction to last week's news. You know, I have been
misspelling our pastor's name for all of my life? Can't believe it! I
really, really, really didn't know his name was spelled "Gardiner"
instead of "Gardner" Ellis. Did you? Anyway, I asked him how he
spent his birthday. His reply was something like "when you are born
in 1909, who remembers," then, he said he didn't have a party this
year, just a RIG hamburger. Mrs. Ellis reminded me that mom
always made sure he had a party, well, next year I will give him a
party - in both of their honors.
Speaking of The Birome Church, Brother Ellis began the first in
a series of sermons on The Ten Commandments. Rules to live by. I
wonder how many youths even know about them - or adults for that
matter. Simple, basic and enough if you think about it. Then our God
gives us a reason to obey, gently saying, "If you love me, keep my
commandments."
For those of you who missed church this Sunday, The Birome
Church will not have it's Fifth Sunday Dinner this Sunday (May 30).
Hope everyone has a great week.
