Martin Luther Presented ‘Live'
To celebrate the 500th
anniversary of Martin
Luther's birth, this father of
the Protestant Reformation
will be portrayed live on
stage in a one man show at
7:30 p.m. Friday. October
28. in the Leiske-Pultar
Gymnasium of
Southwestern Adventist
College in Keene.
The public is invited to
attend this free program
produced by the college's
Community Lyceum Series.
Dr Erwin Sicher,
chairman of the department
of education and behavioral
and social sciences at
Southwestern, will portray
Luther.
A native of Austria. Sicher
speaks five languages
fluently and is a lifelong
Luther scholar. He leads the
audience back five centuries
to the cobble-stoned streets
of warring German
principalities. There they
follow Luther's life from his
school days to his life in
the order of St. Augustine
and his professorship at the
University of Wittenberg.
The audience will observe
the great events in his life as
he presents the 95 Theses,
participates in the great
debates and denunciation of
papal corruption, and flees
for his life to Wartburg
Castle.
Sicher has presented the
drama this fall for audiences
in Oklahoma and Arkansas,
and will perform it at
colleges in Tennessee and
Washington this year.
