Profanity is used by poor talk-
ers to fill in blanks in their con-
versation when their brains are mis-
sing fire. By using it a man can
talk for hours to his own satisfac-
tion and to utter disgust of those
who hear him. Unfortunately, he
seldom sees the real effect of its
use. Men whose mental cylinders
are free from carbon don’t use pro-
fanity.
We are taking this opportunity
of thanking our new friends for the
unusual hospitality extended a*
since arriving. The song of the
bird, the beauty of the open-faced
frtwer, and the pure and refresh-
ing air all seemed to unit with the
voice of the people ini welcoming
the pastor and his family to South
Texas.
We find that you are a very busy
folk; trying to da your part in har-'
monizing the life of our city and
community with the matchless pro-
gram of.our president. In that,yre-
pect,we want to register our voice
of approval and join the social and
civic life of the town in diminish-
ing the number of unwarranted
complaints against' it’s progress.
Business men, you have our confi-
dence and faith in your ability to
sustain your past-attained .citizen-
ship of high merit. We take our
place at the foot of the class and
wish to be counted as servant of
all.
The Baptist Church is no new in- r
stltution;, it is of long standing in
our city. We feel that it will not
be out of place at this time to re-
iterate and emphasize the fact that
as she has always bec-n as a beacon
light to lost men floating,listlessly
on the sea of time, so she exists
today. Let our friendly Church,
i along with the other institutions
whose purpose is closely akin to
ours serVe your spiritual needs. If
we should help you in any way to
a fuller and happier life, tell those
of your friends: hut if we do that
which .is distasteful or unwise in
your judgement, tell us, that ye
may prosper in the thing whereu#'
to we are sent.
TO our Baptist constituency in
particular; we invite your atten-
tion to the fact that you invited us
to help you carry on your church
activities. Each one of you is a
cylinder in the machine; if all are
firing in time our motivating will
be smooth. Let our slogan be that
of the ancient teamster, “All To-
gether Boys.’’
P. G. BARROW, Baptist Pastor.
How long were you away on your
wedding tour?
Too long. It developed into a
lecture tour.
