est was solemnized Saturday morn-
ing, July 15, 1933, at 9:00 o’clock,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. E.
Archerd on Market street, when
their daughter, Edna, became the
bride of Mr. B. F. kflller, of Corpus
Chrlsti.

Wells of this city, was shot and
instantly killed near Rockport at
about noon Friday of last week.
Her father, J. D. Phipps, of Aran-
sas Pass, also received wounds that

Moss, was complimented Tuesday
afternoon at the home of her aunt,
Mrs. Mantoh Williams, when her
mother, Mrs. Moss, had invited a
number of little girls to share with
her the happiness in celebrating
her sixth birthday, from 5:!|0 until
7 o’clock, with a tea party.
The honoree, dressed in a dainty
yellow organdie, assisted, in re-
ceiving the guests, who presented
her with lovely little gifts, which
were graciously received and ad-
mired. ’
Miss Kathleen Sims assisted in

on the lawn, which were enjoyed
during the late afternoon.
The little guests were invited to
the dining room, which’ was most
alluring with the table laid in a
lovely luce cloth, and held for the
central ^jornraent' a beautiful
white birthday cake, holding six
'pink candles, lighted, and was
placed in a mound of Queen Anne’s
lace and fern, with tall pink light-
ed tapers on each side which cast
n pretty illumination on the dain-
ties and confections which were
served with the punch and" birthday

A very special pleasure was en-
joyed in cutting the birthdgy cake.

MR. JOE W. FORD BURIED
• Mr. Joe W. Ford, age 74 years,
passed away at the home of his
son, Waympn Ford, in Sinton early
Wednesday morning.
The deceased had been in fail-
ing health for several months-, and
with-his daughter, Miss Mamie Joe
Ford, came from their hom^in Del
Rio and was spending the time in
the home of his son, Wayman Ford
and Mrs. Ford, at their country
home a few miles from Sinton.
Funeral services were held Wed-
nesday afternoon at five o’clock
from the residence, and interment
made in the Sinton cemetery. Rev.
F. P. Bishop, pastor of the’"Sinton
‘Methodist church was in cfahrge.
Pallbearers were B.-Merrill, John
Merrill, Leonard Hughes, G. L. Cel-
lum, Manton Williams and Mr.
Ince.
He was preceded in death , by his
wife about a year ago. He is sur-
vived by two sons,; Wayman Ford,
of Sinton, and Jim Ford of Del Rio;
three daughters, Miss Mamie Joe
Ford 0$ Del Rio; and two living in
San Antonio.
John W. Starbuck for David Peel
had charge of funeral arrange-
ments.

son Benton, of Georgetown, who
have been sightseeing in the Val-
ley, are spending, a few days with
Rev. and Mrs. F. P. Bishop, in Sin-

Roland Colman in “Cynara,” film-

national stage success, is present-
ed by Samuel Goldwyn at the Rialto
Theatre, Monday, Tuesday and Wed-
nesday. Playing opposite Mr. Col-
man arc Kay Francis and Phyllis
Barry, a newcomer, in the dual
feminine roles, and Henry Stephen-
son in the part he created in the
New York stage production.
It is a quiet human story that
might have come out of yesterday’s
headlines. Its story Is an every-
day story. No melodramatics, no
villians. It is this humanly roman-
tic drama upon which Vidor and
his players, Mr. Colman, Miss Fran-
cis arid litiss Barry, and Mr. Step-
henson, , worked against a back-
ground of luxury and well-being and
nice-living.
