Laid with white pineapple linen,
the table held an appropriate cen-
terpiece! a diploma tied with a
white marine- bow, with "Seniors
1944" in gold letters. Which rested
on a reflector edged-with garlands
of field daisies and fern. Flanking
the ’egnterpie ce were low compotes
filled with mints, and place-cards
featuring miniature diplopias tied’
with <4ass colors, blue' and white,
bore the guests’ names in gold.
Miss Mi lei ted Kelly assisted with
hosiers duties. Covers were laid
for the- following ' guests: Beth
Franklin Tommy piles. Nellie Kuth.

Seaman Honored
On Visit To Sinton
Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baker enter-
tained John Wesley Gibson, S 1/C,
with a chicker) fry at Park Welder
on Friday night of last week as a
farewell supper upon his departure
for Ban Francisco, Calif., after be-
ing home on .a 15-day furlough af-
ter a year of service as a member
of a gun crew on a Liberty ship of
the Merchant Marine.

Calliham. Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Hes-
seltine, and faiqlly, Mr. and Mrs.

meeting in Taft, Friday, May 5,
with sixty members attending. The
president, Mrs. B. N. Tutt, presided.
Officers reporting Were Mrs. J.
R. Barry, first vice president and
program chairman; Mrs. A. D. Atkin,
second vice president and student
loan chairman; Mrs. B. C. Nichol-
son, secretary-treasurer; Mrs. W.
J. Carroll, corresponding secretary;
and Mrs. J. W. Shannon, Federation
Councelor.
Eleven clubs in the county were
represent*® They were the Sinton
Music Club, Frances Alexander
Study Club, Sinton Pioneer Club,
Sinton Woman’s Study Cl^tb,' Sin-
ton Pierian Club, ArangilS Pass
Woman's Club, Ingle'side Woman's
Club, Portland Chatwork Club,
Taft, Woman’s Club, Tuft Home
Demonstration Club, and Taft Jun-
ior Woman’s Club.
During the social hour. Mrs. Mau-
rice Cummins reviewed, "Amazon
Throne" by Bertita Harding. Mrs.
F. L. Morris ahd Mrs. Sam Ezell
presided at the tea table.
Next meeting to be held in Aran-
sas Pass, the first Friday in Oc-
tober.

Meet for Bible ^
Study Monday
The Royal Ambassadors of the
Baptist church met for Bible Study
Monday afternoon. Ambassador-in-
chlef L. M. Huff, Jr., presided at
the business session and minutes
were read by Bobby Newlin, sec-
retary. *
Opening prayer was offered by
Mrs. W. J. .Buis, and the devotional

watt led by Mrs. W. W. Brown,
counselors. After a forty-if ive min-
ute study the group re-assembled
and each boy told of scriptures
learned during class study.
