Baptists Circles
Hold Meetings
The Sallee Circle met Tuesday
afternoon In the home of Mrs. John
Ballard with fifteen members pres-
ent. A Missionary program, “Our
Hungry World,” was given with
Mrs. Stella Hanshaw as leader.
The " Cleo Morrison Circle, met
Tuesday afternoon in the home
of Mrs. Robert Baird with seven-
teen members present for Bible
Study. Miss Vada Holt was leader
for the afternoon.
Both circles enjoyed a social hour
after the meeting and refreshments
were served to the members.

Study Club Celebrate
Eighth Anniversary
The Frances Alexander Study
Club met Saturday afternoon, Jan-
uary 11, at 1 o’clock for their an-
nual anniversary luncheon in the
home of Mrs. Levis Caddell. The
club this year celebrated their
eighth anniversary.
The hostess was assisted by the
Social Committee, Mrs. Tom West,
Mrs. Ted Vickers, and Mrs. Bennie
Oeiinger.
A damask cloth covered the din-
ing table, which was centered by a
lovely arrangement of white carna-
tions in a crystal bowl.
A spaghetti lunch with cherry pie
and coffee was served to the guests.
After the luncheon, Mrs. BUI
Brewer, president, presided over
the business meeting, during which
the following officers were elected
for the new year: President, Mrs.
D. E. Nicholson; Vice-President,
Mrs. Raymond Fritche; Secretary,
Mrs. Ted Vickers; and Treasurer,
Mrs. A. R. Cummins.

Brewer, A. R. Cummins. Raymond

Girl Scout Board
Of Directors Meets
With Mrs. Moore
The Board of Directors of the Sin-
ton Girl Scouts met Tuesday eve-
ning at 7:80 in the home of Mrs.
C. A. Moore, president, for their
regular meeting;
The minutes of the last meeting
were read by Mrs. Eric Warren,
secretary, and approved. Mrs. H.
M. Livesey, training chairman, an-
nounced an Arts and Crafts Train-
ing courge to be held in Corpus
Christ! bn January 24th from 7 to
10 p.m. The course is for, leaders,
co-leaders, troop mothers, and oth-
ers interested in taking up Scout
work.
Mrs. W. W. La Rue, Juliette Low
chairman, took a collection for the
World Friendship Fund. The resig-
nation of Mrs. 1.a Rue from this part
of r;n-I .Scouting was accepted.
Mrs. Ed Glusing resigned as pro-
gram chairman and as co-leader
chairman.
Sirs. J. E. Holbrook, registrar, re-
ported the enrollment of eighteen
hew members for Troop No. 1
fBrownies) and one new member
for Troop No. 2.
Mrs. J. L. Baird, a representative
of the leaders, reported a need for
literature to prepare the program
for the Birthday Program, which
will be held the last week in Feb-
ruary.
This affair will be the recogni-
tion and completion of our first
year of Girl Scouting.
Troop 5 reported the gift of five
dollars for refreshment*, and social
activities. P
Troop 4 requested an additional
co-leader to carry on their work.
The resignation of Mrs. Milton
Witherspoon as leaders representa-
tive was accepted.

Marburger Entertains
Dorcas Societ
The Dorcas Society of the Trin-
ity Lutheran Church of West Sin-
ton met Thursday afternoon, Jan-
uary 9, at 2:30 o’clock, in the home
of Mrs. Walter Marburger.
Rev. Waiser opened the meeting
with a scripture reading Thes. 1,
1:1-10, followed by prayer.
During v the business session It
was' decided that the project for
the coming year would be the fur-
therance of European , relief work,
and that ^pfap to ‘‘Adopt a Fam-
ily" be used 9 carrying out this
work. Mrs. R. A. Adams gave an
Interesting talk on Dr. Martin
Luther’s work.
The following officers were elect-
ed: President, Mrs. R. E. Mar-
burger: Vice-President, Mrs. Athas
Chopelas; Secretary, Miss Frieda
Person; Treasurer, Mrs. Ermai Ur-
ban.
The meeting was closed with the
Lord's Prayer,
Refreshments of sandwiches,
cookies,* cake, and coffee were
served by the hostess during the
social hour. Members present
were Mesdames R. A. Adams, H.
W. Adams, Hy Meyer, R. E. Mar-
burger, Martin Schneider, W. C.
Vaseka, Edwin Marburger, MIbs
Frieda Person, and Mrs. Ermo Ur-
ban, a new member recently enroll-
ed In the society. Visitors for the
afternoon were Rev. Welsers Mrs.
A. Person, and Mrs. Frank Macbart.

The Pioneer Woman’s Club met
Wednesday afternoon, January 15,
in the home of Mrs. E. M. Tidwell,
Aith Mrg. Tidwell and Mi's. J. I.
Knox as hostesses,
Mrs. Sam Preston, president, pre-
sided, and Mrs. J. A. Miller read
the minutes of the last meeting.
After business matters of the club
were disposed of, new officers were
elected.
Mrs. A. Tumlinson was elected-
president, succeeding Mrs. Preston.
Mrs: Burl Brittain was chosen as
first vice-president, and Mrs. E. M.
Tidwell, second vice-president Oth-
er officers elected during the meet-
ing Included Mrs. J. A. Miller, re-
cording secretary; Mrs. F. E. Fos-
ter, corresponding secretary; Mrs.
L. Newmann, treasurer; Mrs. J. D.
Hollan, Sr., reporter; and Mrs. Al-
len Lawrence, historian.
The hostesses were assisted in
serving refreshments by Mrs.
George Cook and Mrs. J. E. Miller.
Twenty-three members were pres-
ent.
Mrs. Clyde Stalcup and Mrs. W.
C. Sherman were guests in the J.
J. Turner home near Beeville Sun-
day.

The Woman’s Study Club met
Friday afternoon, January 10, at 8
o’clock In the JUbittry Room of the
Court House for a business m«et:

Mrs. J. E. Dodson was elected
president, succeeding .Sirs. Ballard
Montgomery. Mrs. R. R. Gibb was
elected as the new first vice-presi-
dent, and Mrs. Montgomery, as
second vice-president. Other of-'1
fleers include the following; Re-
cording Secretary, Mrs. Theo L.
Cox; Corresponding Secretary, Mrs.
Johnnie M. Brown: Treasurer, Mrs.
Ray N. Franklin; Library Chair-
man, Mrs. Dan W. Martin;. Libra-
rian, Mrs. S. F. Hunt; and His-
torian, Mrs. W. G. Martin.
During the meeting reports were
heard from the treasurer, library
chairman, and the librarian.
The San Patricio County Library,
sponsored by the Study Club, issued
a total of 2,479 books during 1946,
and 246 books were added to the
library during the past year, ac-
cording to the librarian’s report.
It was voted during the meeting
to change the regular meeting time
from 3 to 3:36 o'clock for conven-
