The Apaches killed ten whites in
Senorita Valley, Southeastern Aii-

A dispatch from Bombay says the
cotton crop of the present season
has been severely damaged by ex-
cessive rains.
The postoflice appropriation bill,
as reported by the Senate commit-
tee to-day, is increased in amount
about $18,000,000 over the total ot
$33,221,000 as p issed by the House.
The committee of experts to ex-
amine into the cause of the Ashta-
bula bridge disaster report that there
was “no evidence ot weakness in
this bridge which could have been
discovered and prevented.”
It is reported that Jay Gould has
discovered that his former confiden-
tial brokers, S. M. Mills Sc Co.,
knowing that he was short of West-
ern Union stock, formed a pool and
forced Gould to cover. Gould is
About to bring suit for conspiracy,
to recover $300,000.
Mrs. Mary Suliver, a citizen of
Pennsylvania, and clerk in the treas-
ury department, has instituted suit
against Hon. Simon Cameron tor
breach of promise of marriage, lay-
ing damages at fifty thousand dol-
lars. The respective ages of the
parties are 35 and 78 years.
The case of the United Stales
against General Belknap has been
■dismissed, on motion of the district
attorney, by direction of the Attor-
ney-General, for the reason that the
evidence would not sustain tire pros-
ecution. This action was taken by
direction of the President.
