Cleburne is going to have a branch
telegraph line from Fort Worth.
The Burnet Bulletin, thinks the
school system of its county a nui-
sa nee.
Texarkana has a jail that nothing
can get out of, It is of iron, and
cost $3,500.
Lawrence was one yeas old last
April, and has a population of 500,
which is increasing rapidly.
They talk about a gift concert at
Cleburne to perfect the grounds and
buildings for their fair.
Mr. Goforth, of Weatlierford, gar-
nered 270a bushels of wheat from
soo acres on Bear creek
G. C. Rivers, of Dallas, becomes
auditor of accounts in the Texas and
Pacific railway office at Marshall.
Dallas is getting good, and the
Methodists have prayer meetings
every morning at 8 :30 o’clock.
Cotton is more than three feet high
in Navarro county, and every corn-
stalk lias two ears.
There are no. crops growing in
fifty miles of Sulphur Springs. In
any event the Gazette tells nothing
about them.
The Waco Reporter doesn’t think
there will be, despite the great quan-
tity, more than wheat enough to
teed Texas arid immigrants of next
i fall and winter.
! The. Fayette County Record says
that crops that have been well tilled,
on l^nd well plowed, don’t seem to
sufi’er from the drought.
A letter-writer says: “Kaufman
county has very much the appear-
ance of Illinois, but is more rolling;
have not seen a slough in the State.”

his own wife in Texarkana last
week, after a separation, of a good
many years.

ticket which draws the capital Jit of $50,000 00 will receive $io,oco 00; two coupons, $20 000: three coupons, $30,000; four
coupons, $ |o,ooo; five coupons, or a whole ticket, the full gift of $50,000 and so on to the smallest gift.

Tlic distribution will be made by blindfolded children, from two glass wheels, the contents of which can he
'tea hv all present. One wheel will contain 628 gilts on printed slips in circular tubes, and the
other tags with numbers on them corresponding to those on the 100.000 tickets. The contents of both
wheels are thoroughly mixed by revolving, the child at the first wheel wiil take a number therefrom, then the
child at the second wheel will take a gift therefrom, and the gift thus drawn will belong to the number
tit awn immediately before it. Thus this piocess will continue until gifts and numbers are drawn. An
official 1 egisi 1 y of the gifts as drawn will be kept by two of the most accurate clerks that can be secured.

navy, who have at various times,
been in localities afflicted with yel-
low lever, and paid some attention
to its. cause and treatment, express
the opinion that it would he wise as
a timely precaution, for all the
southern cities on, the Atlantic coast
to make and enforce stringent sani-
tary rules, as the early appearance
of the fever at Key West is an indi-
'.atiau it may extend along the coast
this summer.

A Thirty Thousand Dollar Firr.
Augusta. Ga., July 8.—The ware-
house of the Langley Manufacturing
Company, containing three hundred
hales of cotton, and several hundred
bales of manufactured goods, was
struck by lightning last night. Two
steam tire engines from Augusta
rendered assistance. Loss from $25,-
