USO Club News
ENLISTED MEN’S WIVES’ CLUB
At their regular meeting next
Tuesday afternoon, December 9, at
the USO Club, wives of enlisted men
will devote their time to making
Christmas presents for children.
Some will be turning bits of mater-
ial into chubby toy animals, while
others are busy knitting booties for
babies or painting faces on floppy
rag dolls. Toy making will be the
chief concern of this thriving club
group until after Christmas.
Wives of soldiers, non-commis-
sioned officers, and civilian employ-
ees at camp or in Palacios are cor-
dially invited to attend this club
which meets regularly on Tuesday
afternoons at three o’clock in the
USO Club, 305 Bay Front Boule-
vard.

Prairie Center Home
Demonstration Club
The Prairie Center Home Demon-
stration Club met Thursday, Nov.
20, at the home of Mrs. Frank Stal-
lard. After a short business session
the meeting was turned over to
Miss Stewart. First, she gave a talk
on "Food for Defense,” stating that
Matagorda County needs an increase
in almost all food products. One of
the most important and easiest to
fulfill is the need for 1400 new
gardens in this county. Second,
she gave a demonstration on “Buy-
ing Home Furnishings and Clothes.”
She concluded the demonstration
with this thought, “It is better to
buy fewer linens and clothes of a
tested quality than more of a poor
unknown quality.”
Miss Grace Pearl Pierce was pre-
sented with a miscellaneous shower
after which the hostess, assisted by
Mrs. Brown, served delicious re-
freshments to twelve club members
and four visitors.
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Cox have
returned to Palacios after spending
the past year at Matagorda where
Mr. Cox worked with the Dredging
I Company on the Intracoastal Canal.

New 1942 Electrolux
U Available For
Christmas Delivery
“It’s available for Christmas de-
livery,” J. L. Koerbcr, manager of
the Kotrber Sales Company, said
this week with reference to the now
1942 Servel Electrolux gas refrig-
erator.
Though national defense has cur-
tailed the manufacture of this re-
frigerator, the same as in the case
of most household appliances, it hus
at the same time resulted in the
Servel Electrolux becoming even
more outstanding in the public eye.
The advantages of “No Moving
Parts” have been emphasized in
particular, for the Electrolux buyer
need not worry about parts wear-
ing out and having to be replaced;
parts which if used might be diffi-
cult to replace due to defense re-
quirements. It is the only automatic
refrigerator without a single mov-
ing part in is entire freezing sys-
tem. _
Survey after survey shows its
“Stays Silent” and “Lasts Longer”
continue as other major reasons for
the steadily increasing trend to the
gas refrigerator. Replacement buy-
ers have found through owning oth-
er makes of refrigerators the im-
portance of Servel’s permanent sil-
ence. New users have learned from
the experience of their friends the
plasure derived from owning a Ser-
vel Electrolux.
Today more than two million fam-
ilies are enjoying the exclusive ad-
vantages of gas refrigeration. This
Christmas thousands of additional
families throughout the United
States will be added to this happy
list when they decide upon the Ser-
vel Electrolux as he ideal gift for
their home. The majority of these
families when they make the pur-
chase will take advantage of the
new convenient terms being offered.
