generators. And by the end of 1987,
CPL will have nuclear generated electric
hnn/pf oc n/pl I
Why different fuels? With a diver-
sified fuel mix, CPL will always have a
constant, reliable fuel source and can
use the lowest price fuel available.
For years CPL used only natural gas
and oil to bum in its generating plants.
But oil and gas prices have become too
unstable. Remember the high oil prices
following the oil embargo in the ’70s?
Now look how much oil prices have
fallen this year.
CPL started using coal in 1980 and
currently 25 % of your electricity comes
from coal. We expect nuclear power to
provide another 16%. No one knows
where fuel prices are headed, so CPL
has the well-planned flexibility to meet
the challenge. The right fuel mix makes
us more efficient and less vulnerable to
changing fuel situations. That means
reasonable, stable electric rates for you.
Why
the tight
fuel mix
makes sense.
And dollars.
