PARISH NEWS
By The Parish Reporter
A new Liturgical Year has be-
gun wUh the First Sunday of Ad-
ve:>!, and with it is the prospect
of quite a busy time of activity in
our Parish. The future is fraught
with accomplishments-to-be, and
an air of expectation prevails.
This Sunday all the men of the
Parish are invited to attend the
monthly Communion Sunday of
the Holy Name Society, where all
'he men receive Holy Communion
at the 7:30 Mass. Afterwards, they
are all invited to be guests of the
Knights of Columbus at their an-
nual breakfast, held at the KC
Hall on Northwest Highway near
White Rock Lake. His Excellency,
Bishop Gorman, will address the
group, and there is no cost or ob-
\ ligation to the men at all. We
strongly urge attendance at this
function, and would like to have
all those who expect to attend, to
contact Joe Agnes at CH 7-2245, so
I we can R.S.V.P. to the Knights.

We have noticed that the mer-
chants and civic authorities are
going about their preparation for
Christmas well in advance this
year; in fact many of them started
before Thanksgiving. It may be
well to Heep in mind that Christ-
mas is Christ’s Birthday, and if
I you have a sign or a mailing card
j to use, be sure His name is not
; X-ed out, but use the full Holy
Name when referring to Christ-
j mas.
Meantime, don't forget that we
are still gathering every Friday
night at the Gun Club for Games
Night. Hope to see you there!
{ If you're making out your
Christmas list, there’s a present we
can all give and receive which is
of very great value: Pray for each
j other.

What the new rate
on Savings Bonds
means to you 1
Higher interest—faster—makes Savings
Bonds an even better buy I
If you've always bought U. S. Savings Bonds for their rock-
ribbed safety, their guaranteed return, the way they make sav-
ing easier—you've got one more reason now!
Every Series E United Slates Savings Bond you've bought since
February /, 1957 pays you a new, higher interest—J-H% wf,en
held to maturity I It reaches maturity /aster, too—in only 8 years
and 11 months. And redemption values are higher, too, espe-
cially in the earlier years.
About your older Bonds? Easy. Just hold on to them. At
you know, the rate of interest a Savings Bond pays increases
with each year you own it, until maturity. Therefore, the best
idea is to buy the new—and hold the old!
Maybe you already know about Savings Bonds—as one of the
40 million Americans who own them today.
But if you’re new to the game, find out about Savings Bondi
and what they can do for your future. Ask your banker, or
check with your employer about the Payroll Savings Plan.
