During the Christmas holidays
Marshaleen Shafer had an appen-
dectomy. She is doing fine.
Personal Notes
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Oenning of
Camp Point, 111., announce the ar-
rival of a son, Gary Dale, born
December 24. Mrs. Oenning is the
former Ruth Parsley of Carroll-
ton.
Mr. W. H. Beaty of Grand
Fralrie has been ill but is better.
On December 24, Martha Allen
became Mrs. Billy Jo Fletcher.
They will make their home in
Farmers Branch. On January 1,
the “Willing Workers" Sunday
School Class entertained the cou-
ple with a shower.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Grace of Ok-
lahoma City and Mr. and Mrs.
Claud Grace and two children of
Austin visited with Mr. and Mrs.
R. G. Gentry during the holidays.
On Sunday afternoon, Decern'
ber 28, a tea was given in honor
of the Worthy Grand Matron, Mrs.
Cheba Dewees, in the home of
Mrs. J. L. McCreight of Irving and
the six Dallas County Chapters
were hostesses. Mrs. Letha Garri-
son ,Mrs. Flora Rowe, Mrs. Nadine
Frandsen, Mrs. Fern Gilmore, Mrs.
Mary R. Good, Mrs. S. R. May and
Mrs. A. L. Stanley of the Farmers
Branch Chapter were present.
Mr. Walter Parker spent two
weeks recently In the home of Mr.
and Mrs. B. C. Parker. He left
Sunday for his home in Oakland,
Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Easterwood
and sons of Beaumont spent the
holidays here with Mrs. Easter-
wood’s mother, Mrs. Davis, and
grandmother, Mrs. H. A. Nix.
Mrs. J. T. Poe, formerly of Car
rollton, visited here Saturday aft-
ernoon with Mrs. Emma Hard-
castle.

Mrs. Emma Hardcastle spent
the New Year holidays in Dallas
in the Collis Irby home. On New
Year’s Eve Mr. and Mrs. Paul W.
Hardcastle and son, Frank, of
Beaumont came to Dallas and
spent the holidays in the Irby
home and attended the Penn
State—S.M.U. football game. On
New Year’s Eve night the follow-
ing guests visited in the Irby
home: Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Kelley
of Carrollton; Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Count Mayes
of Dallas. The party was enter-
tained by the Robert Irby Hill-
billy orchestra which was greatly
enjoyed.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Spence
spent a week-end in Fort Worth
with Mr. and Mrs. Johnie Grimes.
and Elzworth Gentry were united
in marriage last Saturday night,
December 27. The groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Gentry.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Marsh speitf
the holidays in Stamford, Texas,
with Mrs. Marsh’s relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Fletcher
of Farmers Branch visited Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd Harwell and Billy
Thursday night.
Mrs. Roy Russell of Irving and
Mrs. Carl Pierson of Carrollton
were luncheon guests of Mrs.
George Hughes. '
Miss Ruth Hughes, who is em-
ployed at Westinghouse Electric
Co., in Dallas, spent a week’s va-
cation here with her mother, Mrs.
George Hughes.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reneau an-
nounce the arrival of a baby girl
born December 27 in the Method-
ist Hospital. The baby weighed
three pounds. Mother and baby
are getting along nicely at this
time.
Uncle Sam Says
Mrs. L. E. Nixon and Miss
Agnece Nixon visited in McKin-
ney Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Myers and daughters.
Rev. and Mrs. W. N. Vernon re-
ceived a message last week in-
forming them of the serious injury
of their granddaughter, Bernice
Ann Miller of Fall River, Mass.
Her condition was somewhat im-
proved according to the latest
message received. The child was
injured when she was thrown
from her sled into a ditch.

Mrs. George Hightower returned
home from the Methodist Hos-
pital, Dallas, Saturday, following
an operation December 29.
