Attendance has been very poor.
In school for the past two weeks,
because of an epidemic of flu. More
than 50 per cent of high school
pupil* have been ill.
The Novice boys defeated Mozelle

Archie O'Neal Ls home with a
military discharge after spending
three yew and five months in the
service. Hi seived in the European
Theatre.
Seaman first class H. D Grimes is
at home on a 30 day leave, at the
conclusion of which he will report
to Norfolk. Virginia, for duty on
a radar training ship,

Bowie spent the weekend with his
parents.

In Novice over the weekend visiting
her parents, Mr and Mrs. Sullivan
Hill.
Mrs. Dub Hale and baby of Olney
are visiting with her parents, Mr

Mi Joe McIntosh should be able
to claim some sort of record on his
detr hunting for the season. With
the season opening Friday morning
November 15. he was back in Novice
with an 8 point deer by 10 o'clock
of that morning It was killed on
the Ray McKinney ranch north
of Silver Valley.

here In the home of her parents

We had a large crowd out Sunday
at the mornnig service. Rev. Bal-
lard preached for us. as our pastor
was absent, and brought a wonder-
ful message. We wish others In our
ccmmunltv would wake up mid real-
ize that 1F"-4£ high time we were
all about our Master's business, try-
ing to win the lost to Christ while
we yet have time.
Mr. and Mrs. Vergel Curry and
daughter, Ruth, visited in the Tom
Price home Sunday afternoon.

and daughter. Mena, were in Cole-
man Saturday and visited In the

Last rites were conducted Friday
afternoon, November 15, at Brown
Ranch Baptist church for James
Daniel Atkins, 85, a retired farmer
Interment was in „ the Coleman
cemetery.
Mr. Atkins was born in Gleeson
Station, Tennessee, and came to
this comity in 1906. He was a here last Saturday. They are living
member of the Baptist church. on the lease of I. S. Pate until they

Mrs Spurgeon Thompson spent

Peggy Parks, a student nurse In
Abilene, visited her aunt, Mrs Aus-
tin Purcell on Friday night.
Mrs. Pete Snead of Novice visited
the family of Randolph Davis re-
cently
Mr and Mrs. Ed Maples moved
to Coleman Wednesday. Their
friends here regret to lose them.
Mrs. O. D. Palmer of Ovala visit-
ed her son, Foy Tomlinson last
week. He is recovering from an op-
eration.
Mrs. E. W Scott of Midland spent
several days last week here with
her sister( Mrs. Frank Watkins.
Mr. and Mrs A Z Miller went
to Goldthwaite Friday to visit the
Jess Miller family.
Eston Gipson recently returned to
his home here after a discharge
from the armed forces. Tills com-
munity always has a warm welcome
for returned servicemen.

son of Burkett enjoyed Sunday din-
ner with his mother, Mrs. Walter
Burroughs.

and Hazel King for memorizing 50

school.
Sunday school attendance on No-
vember 18 was very good, showing
an 85 per cent gain over the. prev-
ious record Rev, and Mrs. Boyd
O'Neil filled their regular appoint-
ment, In his message he brought
greetings of appreciatelon' from Rev.
J. B. Cooper of Dallas, who thank-
ed this church for Its influence be-
cause he was converted, baptized
and ordained here.
The school entertainment was
well attended. Mr. D. F% Loveless

patrons. We always welcome his
counsel and advice.
