Disaster Loans March 6
Congressman Charles
W. Stenholm advises of
the March 6, 1979,
deadline for submitting
applications for the
Physical Disaster Loan
Program through the
Small Business Admini-
stration. This program is
available to farmers and
ranchers who suffered
financial hardship due to
drought losses on 1978
crops.
The disaster loans may
be used to pay outstan-
ding obligations and
operating expenses and
for production costs in the
new crop year. However,
they may not be used to
refinance a Farmers
Home Administration or
other USDA loan.
Interest rates on SBA
physical disaster loans
are 3% on the first
$250,000 and 6.58% on
remaining amounts.

Bethel Assembly of God
celebrated Valentine's
Day with a party hono-
ring the youth of the
church.
After votes were cast for
a Valentine King and
Queen, they enjoyed
playing games. TTie honor
of Valentine Queen went
to Dana Preston and
Valentine King to Preston
Workman. Both were
given a crown and a small
prize. Refreshments
consisting of candy
hearts, cupcakes and
punch were served along
with Valentine cards with
lollipops attached.

Christina, Christella and

informative program
about "China and the

next."
Refreshments were
served by the hostess.
Next meeting will be
March 1 at the home of
Mrs. J.L. Lacewell.

Fact
The last survivor of the
Civil War, Confederate
veteran Walter Williams
of Texas, lived to be 117
year old and died in 1959.
He is buried in a rural
cemetery in Robertson
County near Franklin,
Texas.

The Texas Girls' Choir
14th Annual Piano
Contest scheduled April
21-22 began with the idea
of giving young girls an
opportunity to demon-
strate their musical
talents in a piano
competition with their
peers.
Prizes worth almost
$500 will be awarded
during the 1979 compe-
tition at the Texas Girls'
Choir building, 4449
Camp Bowie Blvd.
Girls between the ages
of 10 and 15 from
throughout the United
States may apply to enter
the contest. Judges will
review repertoire listings
to determine the eligibility
of each entrant before
assigning preliminary
auditions.
Application forms may
be requested by writing
the Texas Girls' Choir,
4449 Camp Bowie Blvd,
Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
Applications must be
returned postmarked no
later than March 15.
Repertoire must include
one number from the
baroque, classical, ro-
mantic and contemporary
periods and must be
original piano music
literature. Arrangements
will not be accepted.
All music must be
memorized and con-
testants will be judged in
the areas of technique,
interpretation, stage
presence, rhythm, musi-
cianship, memorization,
phrasing, pedaling, tone
quality and impression of
total performance.
Pianists will be compe-
ting for $425 in cash
awards plus trophies and
ribbons during the
contest.
The winner will appear
as a guest soloist at the
Texas Girls' Choir spring
concert at 7:30 p.m. May 4
in Will Rogers Audito-
rium. She also will receive
$250, trophy and an
invitation to accompany
the choir on its annual
foreign tour.
Other awards will be
$100 and a trophy for
second place, $50 and a
trophy for third place, $25
and a ribbon for fourth
place and a ribbon for fifth
place.
Preliminary auditions
will be played at 9 a.m.
Saturday, April 21. Final
auditions will begin at
2:30 p.m. Sunday, April
22
Bryson UMW
The Bryson United
Methodist Women met on
Monday February 12 in
the fellowship hall of the
church Tor a book review
on China, Search For
Community, by Mrs. W.L.
McCloud. Pictures and
miniature films of China
and Taiwan were shown
by Mrs. Nellie B. Bryson.
Mrs. L.G. Caskey,
president, conducted a
business meeting pro-
ceeding the program. On
March 2, World Day of
Prayer program will be
given by Mrs. Bessie
Clayton.
The Jack County
Sheriff 's Posse met
Thursday, February 15 at
the Posse Building with
Olan Teague, Captain
presiding. Plans for the
annual rodeo were
discussed. Date was set for
the rodeo to begin the first
Thursday in June. Dates
will be Thursday 7, Friday
8 and Saturday 9.
Enlarging the dance
platform was also dis-
cussed.
Charles Gardner was
voted into the Posse as a
new member.
The Sheriff's posse
meets every third Thurs-
day at the Posse building
at 7:30 p.m.
New officers for 1979
