A Criminal Attack
on an inoflensive citizen ia frequently
made in that apparently useless little
tube oalled the “appendix.” It’s gener-
cause of this is the inconvenient
acedule of the road.
Nine cases out of ten when two
families fall out, the cause was
that they had been “two thick.”
It is a good thing to be neighborly
but be careful not to be commun-
istic. "What’s mine’s yours, what’s
yours is mine.” in the course of
time will cause misunderstandings
and disagreements and bitternesi,
and sometimes hatred.

The record for corn yield this
year in Pottawatomie couuty, Kas.
is 120 bushels per acre on a field of
25 acres. The field had been in al-
falfa for nine years and this is the
second crop of corn since the breed-
ing of the alfalfa sod. A close
second to this was 117 bushels of
corn per acre, also produced on
alfalfa sod.—Clarendon Chronicle.
Cowpeas will have a similar
effect to alfalfa if planted
year after year. The nitrogen
collected in the soil by peas or al-
falfa is what our western soils
most need as they already have
sufficient of other elements.
Good Judgment
is the essential characteristic of men
and woman. Invaluable to good busi-
ness men and necessary to housewives, j j
A woman shows good judgment when
she buys White’s Cream Vermifuge for
her baby. The best worm menicine
ever offered to mothers. Many indeed
are the sensible mothers, who write ex- .
pressing their gratitude for the good |
health of Jheir children, which they owe
to the use of White’s Cream Vermifuge.

Farmers in Jack county have
often seen in their fields what they
call alcali spots, where cotton dies
out. The agricultural department
has been investigating this and
find that the cause is a fungus
growth in the soil. The depart-
ment is trying methods to eradicate
it, but their experiments have not
yet had time to develop. By plow-
ing from 7 to 9 inches deep in the
early fall it kills the plant to con-
siderable extent and a continua-
tion of this method for several
years would probably kill it out
entirely. _
