4-H Steer Clinic
Here Saturday

The 4-H of Coleman County and
Johnson Feed Barn held a steer
showmanship clinic this past Satur-
day at the Double C Arena. We had
six steers that were shown in this
clinics We also had several adult
leaders Saturday who helped the
kids with different points of show-
ing their steers.
Our Judge for this event was
Jimmy Rhodes. Rhodes has been
doing his student teaching in Voca-
tional Agriculture at Coleman High
School.
The winners for this clinic were
Alissa Flynn, 1st place, who won a
show stick; 2nd place Heath Hemp-
hill who won a steer, halter and 3rd
place was Jim Bob Edington, who
won a neck rope.

To State Library Board
Bryan city librarian, Clara
Mounce, formerly of Coleman, has
been appointed to the Library
Systems Advisory Board of the
Texas State Library and Archives
Commission. This board«provides
state library with valuable assis-
tance in formulating policies relat-
ing to programs under this act. The
three-year term began in Septem-
ber and expires September 1,1987.
Mrs. Mounce is the former Clara
Beth Coates.
The board was formed in 1970
after the Library Systems Act was
enacted by the state legislature in
Austin. Clara, the first member
from Bryan, joins Brooke Sheldon,
immediate past president of the
American Library Association, and
head of the graduate school of
library science, Texas Women's
University; David Henington, direc-
tor, Houston Public Library Sys-
tem; Dorothy Peterson, city librar-
ian, Fredericksburg, and another
new member, as "y(* unnamed by
the LSAAB.
Clara joined the city in 1978 as an
assistant city librarian. She has
progressed rapidly as a member of
the city's team to her current
position of city librarian, and is
credited with numerous innovative
and creative programs and projects
for the library in serving its
customers and employees. She is a
graduate of Coleman High School, a
graduate of Hardin Simmons Uni-
versity, where she achieved a
bachelor of business administrative
degree, and the University of Rhode
Island, where she was awarded a
