t Thursday, September 16,1982
The operation of the
Pine Forest Restaurant
has been turned over to
two Giddings business-
women, who reopened
the restaurant on Friday,
Sept. 3.
Debi Blue, who owns
the Body Shop, a health
spa in Giddings, said she
will be in charge of food
operations. Dorothy Hin-
ds, who has been a home-
maker, will take over the
business aspects of the
restaurant, which will be
operated on a lease type
arrangement, Mrs. Blue
said.
The women say they
plan a daily lunch buffet
with three entrees, six
vegetables, soup or salad
and dessert.
In addition, an elab-
orate Sunday brunch is
planned for each week.
Mrs. Blue said that will
include such items as
prime rib and chicken in
wine sauce.
On the first day after
the opening, the buffet
was $4.95 perplate.
Mrs. Blue said that the
prices have still not been
settled for the buffet or
the menu items.
However, steaks, seafood
and lobster would be
available on the evening,
shesaid.
Catering
The restaurant will also
be available for catering
and private parties, ac-
cording to Mrs. Blue, even
on Tuesdays and Wed-
nesday, days that the
restaurant will be closed to
everyday business.
The restaurant will be
open until 10 p.m. on most
business days. However, it
will close at 2 p.m. on Sun-

portion of a IVi acre tract
that was used as a dump
previously.
Wilkinson said the per-
mitting process would
probably be easier on the
property since it has al-
ready been used as a land-
fill, but he added that the
city will have to come up
with detailed maps of the
area, showing where gar-
bage has been buried be-
fore.
Wilkinson added that
the IVi acres would not
provide much room, and
said “I would not hedge
acquisition of a new site in
anticipation of using it.”
Old Site
The council voted to
have Wilkinson investigate
possible use of the IVi acre
site, which is just southeast
of the Bastrop City limits
near the Old Mexican
Cemetery, and to notify
the Texas Department of
Health that it is interested
in 'permitting the area.
Wilkinson was also told to
inform the Texas Depart-
ment of Health of closure
plans for the existing land-
fill.
Wilkinson presented that
council with an $8,300 cost
estimate for closing the
landfill which will include
dozer work to keep it frohi
ponding water and also to
revegetate the area.
Councilman David Lock
said that pursuing permit-
ting of the 1'A acre tract
was about the only option
open to the council, and
Councilman Curtis Mc-
Donald noted “Six months
is going to be on us pretty
quickly.”
In other action, the city
council:

kinson said the city will
basically want to construct
a small trench on the edge
of Laurel Lane, which
drains poorly because it is
so level.
The trench, expected to
be two feet wide and one
to two feet deep will be
lined with concrete and
covered with a cast iron
grate that can be lifted off
so silt and debris can. be
cleaned out,” Wilkinson
said. The project should be
budgeted at approximately
$30,000 with $2,000 of
that budgeted for contin-
gencies.
Engineer Richard Horn
said that the trench would
take water east off Laurel
Lane and drain it into the
underutilized storm drain-
age system on Pecan
Street.
Although the council
has previously authorized
that the plans be made, it
instructed Wilkinson to
hold the plans until they
find money for the project
in the city budget.

surance for the city for a

from the Maynard Insur-
