at the Waples Memorial Methodist
church The gathering was for the
general welfare of the Methodist
church Jn the district.
A check-up of the preachers
showed a 100 percent attendance,
with a large number of laymen also
present. There were twenty-one
pastors and thirty laymen. Some
of the churches had more then one
layman present.
The geneial topics discu-wd were
of an educational, evangelistic,
stewardship and fellowship char-
acter and were given for the pur-
pose of fostering the work ;n a

Secretary R. O. Gresham states
that the literature has been received
from the Department of Commerce
at Washington and covers a total
of 237 subjects relating to bnsi-
\ ness and marketing.
Such themes as advertising, mar-
keting, shipping, agriculture, and
Others which will include practic*
ally all subjects in which one may
be interested which may be in any
way related to commerce, are treat-
ed and are filed p ~ to their
conven-
iently filed and may be turned to
readily by any seeking information.
All citizens, whether members of
the Chamber of Commerce or not,
are invited to use the files, as this
is one of the services the Chamber
is glad to render the public.
In one day recently, express
shipments of Dallas made wash
dresses, hats and frocks were
made to twenty-six states as fol-
lows: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas,
Coorado, Georgia, Illinois, lows
Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mich-
igan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebras-
ka, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma,
Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Car-
olina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vir-
ginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
The Waco box factory, which
closed in September, is to resume
operations in November. It will
employ about sixty men.

Funeral service* were conducted
here this week, for Mrs. Lfnley
Munson Tonkin, daughter of Mrs.
W. B. Munson, 8r„ who died of
heart attack in a Dallas hospital
Monday
Mrs. Tonkin was a member of
one of Denison’s foremost families
and her parents were among the
early settlers here and did much
toward its development. Her
father died a few years back. She
was married in 1908 to Stanley .(.
Tonkin, and the couple made their
home in • McAlester OK., until his
death in 192«.
After the death of her husband
she again turned her attention to
art in which line she was very suc-
cessful. At the time of her illness
she was in Dallas in connection
with an art display.
Surviving are three children, one
a son, Allen who is a practicing
attorney in Albuquerque, N. M„ and
two daughters, Miss Jane and Miss
Mary. Also her mother, Mrs. W. 15,
Munson Sr, and a brother, W. 11.
Munson, Jr., of this city and two
sisters, Miss Kloise Munson, of this
city, and Mrs. It. f.. .McKinney of
Little Kook.

man, who presided at the afternoon
session.
The morning session was pre-
sided over by Laymen F. A.
Thompson, of Sherman. A special
message on “The Stewardship 9t
Life” was brought by Layman Rob-
inson of Sherman, which was or-
dered published in the official pub-
lication of the church in the state.
A special sermon was also de-
livered by Rev. Isbell, of Shermaa.
During the noon hour luncheon,
was served by the ladies of the
church with their compliments.
The Waples church was repre-
sented by Rev. Homer T. Fort, Sup-
erintendent Ewing Ellis and R. G.
Gresham.
Rev. J. Blackburn and wife and
children were in the city Tuesday.
Rev .Blackburn is pastor of the
Methodist church at Ada., Okla.
