March Senior Social
The senior social Bunco
party was held at the D’Hanis
parish hall on March 6.
After about 24 players had
enjoyed several games, prizes
were awarded to the follow-
ing: most games, Betty Zerr,
Jeanice Dube, Mary Ann Lutz;
most buncos, Jean Weynand
and Judy Galloty; least game,
Mitze Kossaeth and Tammy
Kossaeth, and door prize,
Grace Spadafore.
Delicious refreshments
of ham, scalloped potatoes,
green beans and pink fruit
salad were enjoyed by the
guests provided by our gra-
cious hostesses, Milly, Mi-
chele, Janet and Betty
A variety of desserts enjoyed
by everyone were pound
cake with strawberries and
whipped cream, angel food
cake, cookies and Martha’s
special chocolate ice cream
cake.
Those having March birth-
days are May Ann Macey,
Maxine McGehee, Billie Hus-
ted and Betty Barlow
As the guest departed each
one had some Easter eggs to
take home and enjoy
Next month’s party will be
on Wednesday, April 3 from 2
to 4 p.m.
Get ready for the best toe-
tapping music, played by the
award-winning Tennessee Val-
ley Authority Bluegrass Band.
A hard driving traditional
band, the Band is also known
for their ability to take non-
Bluegrass songs and deliver
them in Bluegrass style.
The TVA was part of the
WOAI Country Jubilee radio
show with Riders in the Sky,
Asleep at the Wheel, Tammy
Wynette and The Whites,
among others. In addition,
the TVA has played many
Bluegrass and acoustic music
festivals and performed at the
Christmas Pops concert with
the San Antonio Symphony.
The TVA band was founded
inl972 by Hank Harrison and
his brothers, Jeff and Scott.
Over the years, the band won
numerous awards includ-
ing the prestigious National
Bluegrass Band Champion-
ship in Louisville, KY. They
have performed with Bill
Monroe, Johnny Gimble, Fla-
co Jimenez and Kenny Baker,
and opened for Michael Mar-
tin Murphy, Country Gazette,
Kitty Wells, Ralph Stanley and
the Dixie Chicks.
Bring your friends and fami-
ly to this fun and satisfying eve-
ning of music Friday, April 6, at
the George Woods Center, 200
East Hondo Street, in Devine.
Concert time is 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 at the door;
students grades K-12 admit-
ted free, when accompanied
by an adult. With free parking
and free refreshments served
at intermission, it makes for
a great date night or family
