Now, let's be plain and frank:
If you’ve got to pay that dollar
you owe by July 1st, why not
pay it by May 1st and help some
one of the contestants in her am-
bition? If you are in arrears
why not pay up NOW? By so
doing you can assist some worthy
lady to a valuable prize at abso-
lutely no cost to yourself.
The reason we put on the con-
test was to assist us in getting
our list on the cas’n-in-advance
basis. It is having the desired
effect, all right, but still there are
many who nave nut squared up
accounts and who must do so
prior to July 1st or do without
the paper. We do not care which
one of the contestants you sup-
does on this occasion. It is, and
always has been, an important
factor in Rockdale’s prosperity,
and deserves the liberal patron-
age it receives from the pro-
gressive merchants of our sister
city.— Cameron Herald.

Know Paint
There’s a paint-education in
this advertisement.
Buy by the job, not gallon.
Buy by the paint put-on; that’s
the job.
The price of paint is so much
a gallon; that can’t be helped,
but amounts to nothing.
The price of painting is so
much a day; that can’t be helped,
but amounts to nothing.
Put them together. How can
you do it? You’ve got to or lose
perhaps half your money.
Devoe, 10 gallons enough for
the average job; an average
paint, 15. Now reckon your
costs. Count labor a day for a
gallon. Devoe 10 days; the oth-
er 15.
Devoe about $50; the average
paint about $70 or $80; the dearer
the labor the bigger the differ-
ence, always that way.
But that’s for the job. How
long is it going to last? One
twice as long as the other.
DEVOE.
