Resigns
Dr. Thomas H. Martin, vice president
for advancement, resigned effective
May 14, to assume the position of con-
sultant for Community Service Bureau,
Inc. of Dallas. CSB is a professional
fund development consulting firm with
offices in Dallas and Atlanta, Georgia.
"We appreciate the service and lead-
ership Dr. Martin has provided in his
several areas of responsibility at HPU,"
said Dr. Don Newbury, HPU president.
"He is a Christian gentleman with great
capabilities, and will be missed at HPU.
We wish him every success in his new
work," Newbury added.
Scholarships
Made Available
Several scholarships and endowments
have been established in past months
honoring or memorializing friends and
alumni of HPU. The following are avail-
able for students:
Laverne Cearley Endowed Scholar-
ship- To provide money to a junior or
senior education student who has been
recommended by the education faculty
and the director of financial aid.
T.L. Gary Unrestricted Endowment-
To provide funds for education and edu-
cational facilities for Howard Payne Uni-
versity, established through the T.L. and
Annie P. Gary Trust Fund.
Lola Mae Daniel Endowed Scholar-
ship- Established to provide funds for a
junior or senior student who is preparing
for the foreign mission field. Miss Daniel
is currently a missionary-in-residence at
HPU.
Montie and Thelma Lane Endowed
Scholarship- Established by Montie
Lane in memory of his wife, Thelma, this
scholarship is for students in need of fi-
nancial assistance.
Martha St. Clair Endowed Scholar-
ship Fund- Offered to any deserving stu-
dent, this scholarship was established inNealeigh

ment at Howard Payne University, effec-
tive July 1.
He will succeed Dr. Tom Martin, who
resigned the position in May to join a
professional fund-raising firm in Dallas.
"I am delighted to announce Mr.
Nealeigh's appointment," said Dr. Don
Newbury, HPU president. "He is ex-
tremely capable, and feels a deep com-
mitment to serve in this important
position at HPU."
"Because he is an HPU alumnus and
has worked faithfully as a member of
the board of directors of the alumni
association, he has sufficient knowledge
and background to be effective in this
work immediately," Newbury added.
Nealeigh, 38, received the bachelor of
arts degree in psychology at HPU. He
was awarded the master of divinity
degree from Southwestern Baptist The-
ological Seminary in 1982, and currently
is a doctoral candidate in theology at
Baylor University. He has completed all
course work and has partially completed
the dissertation toward the doctorate.

Mrs. Robbie Wiley Zunker Endow-
ed Scholarship- For junior or senior stu-
dents preparing for a teaching career in
either elementary or secondary education.
Milton S. McGee Sr. Endowed
Scholarship Fund- Established by Mil-
ton S. McGee Jr. and Mrs. Milton S.
(Agatha) 'McGee Sr. in memory of their
father and husband. It provides funds for
any deserving student in the Academy of
Freedom with preference to students at-
tending frkm Red Rix er Parish, La.Job
From 1983-86, Nealeigh was director
of the adult learning center at Seventh
and James Baptist Church in Waco.
During this same period, he was also a
graduate assistant in the religion depart-
ment at Baylor University.
From 1974-78, he was a caseworker
and child-care administrator with the
Texas Youth Commission.
Nealeigh, a native of Portland, Ore.,
is married to the former Katie Gerault.
They have two children--Nat, 6, and
Anna, 1.99th Year
