Patrons of the bazaar hesitate to
enumerate all the generous bene-
factors. They wish, however, to
express special thanks to Dr. S. E.
Thompson, to the Sanchez Orches-
tra, and to many American mer-
chants and contributors. Of great
assistance were two Mexican girls,
Concha Sanchez and Josefina Mel-
lado. The latter has graduated
from a teachers’ college in Mexico,
and is now specializing in English
and music at Notre Dame Institute.
On the other hand, Miss Sanchez
is taking what subjects she can get
at Tivy Senior High School, until
she is able to return home and
complete her college credits.
Notre Dame congratulates Tivy
on her splendid football record;
and the more so because Capt. Ru-
dolph Ruff, and three other mem-
bers of his winning team were for-
merly on our student roster.
To the many friends of Notre
Dame Institute and Our Lady of
Guadalupe School; to the manage-
ment of the Kerrville Mountain
Sun, and to all readers of this
weekly, we extend the most cordial
greetings of a holy, healthy, happy
Christmas; and a pious, peaceful,
prosperous Ney Year!
ND there were in the same country shepherds abiding
in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
and the glory of the Lord shone round about them;
and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them: Fear not: for, be-
hold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the
people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is
Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in
swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly
host praising Cod, and saying,
Clory to Cod in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.

In spite of bad weather, last
Sabbath was another good day
with us. Our Bible School was
well atended, running over the 100
mark. Subject for the lesson was
"Paul and His Friends”; Acts
20:36-38, Romans 8:21.
In the evening the pastor preach-
ed to a large congregation from
Proverbs 18:24, and took for his
text, “A Faithful Friend.” He said
in part: "Friendship is the only
thing in the world concerning the
usefulness of which all mankind
agrees; friendship is as necessary
an element of a comfortable exist-
ence in the world as fire or water,
or air itself; friendship, however
pleasing and blessed, has been the
cause of the greatest misery to
men when it has been unworthy
and unfaithful. As a good friend
is sweet, a false friends is full of
bitterness. Aristotle has defined
friendship as "one soul dwelling in
two bodies and no one has been
able to explain such a union.’’
Tennyson says, "Friendships are
not made, they are born.’’ Abraham
was called the friend of God and
that title was given to him by Je-
hovah."
He asked, “Are You Christ’s
Friend?” and explained the fact
that Christ sticks closer than a
brother, why He sticks closer than
we, uiutco- a brother and the many lessons
ned to Glen Rest Cem- which may be drawn from the doc-
trine that Jesus Christ is a faith-
ful friend.
We will have a full program next
Sunday and the pastor will preach
a Christmas sermon. On Monday
we will have our Christmas pro-
gram and tree to include the White
Christmas, called Bethlehem Star.
There will be plenty of candy, fruit
and toys for children and all who
come. Our Ladies Auxiliary, as is
their custom, will serve tamales
and coffee free to all. Be there
and bring your friends. You will
be welcome.
We have completed painting our
church, inside and outside. It looks
beautiful and we wish to thank the
Chamber of Commerce and our
American brethren and friends who
helped us with donations.
The pastor and all his church
wish one and all a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy and Pros-
perous New Year.

Last Sunday was another fine
day with us. At the morning serv-
ice a large crowd was in attend-
ance. Not so large in the evening.
But God greatly blessed at both
services.
We are all looking forward to a
great day next Sunday. At the 11
o’clock hour the pastor will bring
a Christmas sermon and in the
evening at the regular preaching
hour we will present our Christmas
program. The program committee
is working hard to make the pro-
gram a success. A fine program
has been outlined and one which all
will enjoy. After worship service,
the kiddies will be presented with
a few presents and candies left by
Santa Claus.
Please remember at this special
service our annual offering and the
White Gifts for the King will be
taken for our Juliette Fowler
Homes, which are located at Dal-
las. These are the homes for the
aged and the orphans which are
supported by our brotherhood.
May we come prepared to make
these dear hearts happy by a lib-
eral offering.
We don’t have many more op-
portunities to go to church this
year. Maybe we have not been as
faithful as we should have been in
the days gone by. If this be true,
may we start in next Sunday and
get in line for a banner year this
coming New Year, iou need the
church and the church needs you.
The pastor and hia wife wish all
members and friends of the church
a very Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year.
Psalm 67:3: “Let the people
praise thee, O God; let all the peo-
ple praise thee.”
We always welcome you to our
services.
