“WHAT IS THE BEST MEDICINE"
LAUGHTER! Oh, it really is! The good it does can be measured by the
Beta-endorphins circulating in your blood. Those same good hormones also
rise with exercise.
AND WHAT IS THE GREATEST SOURCE OF LAUGHTER?
PLAY! Yes! Playing games! You are never too old to laugh and to play!
Some of the best laughs our family gets is playing “Balderdash”. A simple
dictionary game! The crazy definitions offered are most hilarious. Causing
several minutes of uninhibited laughter. The Beta-endorphins are very high.
Or when we run around the pingpong table. Hitting the ball, laying the
paddle down for the player behind you, then running to the odier end of the
table. Miss and you’re out till the next game starts shortly.
Right after church texlay, 1 was swimming backstroke laps, when three of
my granddaughters came ready to swim. "Is the water cold, Granddad?" “No.
It’s just perfect!”
We played keep away with the volleyball. “Can you w;tlk on your h;uids,
Granddad?” "Sure!" I tried. It was not gixxl. “Let me show you how you
kxiked, Granddad.” And my 11 year old, imitated me — feet high in die air,
knees way apart, wobbly, awkward. “Was that really die way I looked?” We
were all laughing.
As we left the ptxil. 1 remembered die youthful joy of swimming, water in
my head, complete relaxation, satisfaction.
NEVER GROW TOO OLD TO PLAY AND LAUGH, AND YOU
WON’T GROW OLD!
