We harvested the small grain
on the Dunn farm test last
week. I feel this was an
outstanding test and will have
some very significant results. I
want to express my apprecia-
tion to Hurschel Dunn for his
cooperation in this endeavor.
The date for spraying pecan
nut casebearers is right now.
Tuesday and Wednesday, the
29th and 30th, is the latter end
of the best period to spray.

Grandson Wins
BHS Scholarship
Randy Farris, son of Mr. and
Mrs. E. R. Farris of Ballinger,
and grandson of Mr. and -Mrs.
Earnest E. Sikes of Coleman,
has been awarded the Olga
Schawe Memorial Scholarship
at Ballinger High School.
Presented each year to an
outstanding senior boy and
senior girl, the award consists
of $500 for each recipient.
Brenda Voelkel was the 1973
girl recipient.
Farris will attend Tarleton
State College at Stephenville,
majoring in industrial arts. He
was named Who's Who in
bookkeeping as a junior, and
was also a Who's Who as a
senior. A four-year participant
in football, he took part in
basketball as a freshman and
sophomore, and in track as a
freshman, sophomore and jun-
ior:
President of the Senior
Class, he was a senior member
of the Student Council and the
National Honor Society.
Named as Student Rotarian
for October 1972, Farris was a
member of the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes during his
first three high school years.

Dies Saturday
In Odessa
Mrs. Bertha Bullard of
Coleman, who had lived in
Coleman County most of her
life, and was a housewife ar.d
member of the Baptist Church,
died in Odessa Saturday, May
26, 1973.
She was born May 29,1921 in
Burkett.
Her immediate survivors are
her husband, Henry Bullard of
Coleman; two daughters, Mrs.
Tommy Arnold of Dayton and
Mrs. Lynn Mosier of Conroe;
two grandchildren; her mother,
Mrs. Lou Tabor of Water
Valley; five sisters, Mrs. Elmer
Baugh of Odessa, Mrs. Hattie
Woodard of Texas City, Mrs.
Ellie Pierce of Abilene, Mrs.
Beula Ann Williamson of
Oakdale, La., and Mrs. Jean
Rowden of Roswell, N.M.; and
three brothers, Jewell Tabor
of Water Valley, Leslie Tabor
of Aransas Pass and George
Tabor of Fort Worth.
Rev. Dale Tabor, assisted by
Rev. Paul Hubbard, officiated
for funeral rites at 2 p.m.
Monday in Stevens Memorial
Chapel. Burial was in Burkett
Cemetery.

McCay Funeral
Held Monday
In Local Chapel
The Rev. Paul Smith con-
ducted funeral services yester-
day, May 28, for C. A'. McCay,
86, of Coleman, at 10 a.m. in
Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Graveside rites began at 4
p.m. in Turkey Dreamland
Cemetery near Childress.
Honorary pallbearers were
Pat Justice, Orval Simpson.
Clay Clearman and Reg Lagow.
Stevens Funeral Home had
charge of arrangements.
Surviving him are Mrs.
McCay of Coleman, his widow;
J. J. McCay of Amarillo, his
son; one grandchild; one great-
grandchild and one great-great-
granddaughter.
Mr. McCay died at 11:50 p.m.
Saturday. May 26, 1973, at his
residence. He had lived in
Coleman County since 1942,
and was a retired carpenter.
Bom Jan. 16, 1887 in
Decatur, he married Miss Erie
Richey in Colorado City on
March 31, 1909.
