Funeral Services
At Santa Anna
For Joe Wilson
Funeral services were held to-
day in Santa Anna at 4 p.m. for
Joe Y. Wilson, who died Friday,
April 29. in Santa Anna Hospital.
Mr. Wilson, school bus driver
for the Santa Anna School sys-
tem for the past five years, be-
came ill whjle making his run
Friday afternoon and coufd not
finish the run.
Mr. Wilson was born in Okmul-
gee, Okla., Jan. 21, 1916, moved
to Texas in 1937. and was mar-
ried to Miss Pearl Collins in !
Santa Anna in 1941. A former
student of Prairie View A&M
College, he was a veterah of
World War II, having spent two
and one-half years in the army, j
He had been Cub Scoutmaster ]

troop for two years and was a
Mason and a member of the
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Pearl Wilson, and one son
Raymond, both of Santa Anna:
and his mother, five sisters and
two brothers, all of Oklahoma
Interment was in the Santa
Anna cemetery with Holman
Funeral Home of Browhwood in
charge of arrangements.

union was hold Saturday and
Sunday. April 23 and 24, at the
CWeman City Park. This reun-
iion is held each- year to honor
Mrs. Ada Linam Roberts, Mrs

After a delayed start, Coleman this evening in the league, with
Little league play got underway j the Dodgers playing in Talpa
last Friday evening with a full i at 6 p.m., the Mozelle Braves
slate of three games here and in playing the Red Sox here at 6
Talpa.

gers, winners the past three
years, got off to an auspicious
start as they blistered the Mo-
zelie Braves. 21-2. Tommy Be-
dell was the winning hurler, and
Tony Harding took the loss. The
Dodgers pounded out 19 hits,
including three home runs^ade
one error, and received trwalks
The Braves got but four nits,
made three errors and received
5 walks. Big Benny Locke slam-
med a homer for the Dodgers in
the 1st inning with two on, and
teammate Sam Bob Lee followed
with two circuit drives in the
4th and 5th innings, each with
two on.
In the other game here, the
Tigers took another one-sided
win over the Reef Sox 19-4. Win-
ning pitcher was C hris Mayo,
and the loser was Pat Vanpelt.
The Tigers picked up 19. hits,
made 2 errors and had 3 walks.
The Sox had 3 hits, 2 errors and
received- 4 walks. Alan Grider
hit two homers for the winners,
one in the 2nd with none on and
another in the 6th with one on
Harold Skelton poked a round-
tripper also for the Tigers in
the 3rd with one on.
Over in Talpa, the Coleman
Giants ruined the home debut
of the Yankees, „ winning 7-1.
Jim Johnston went all the way
on the mound for the Giants,
allowing 3 hits. The Giants made
2 errors and received no walks.
Jackie Burleson was the losing
hurler. The Yankees,allowed 13
hits, made 2 errors and received
2 walks.

MINOR LEAGUE
Play in the Minor Leagues al-
so got off to a late start as their
openers last Thursday were can-
celled due to wet grounds, but
all teams got into action Mon-
day night, with the Sharks beat-
ing the Hawks, 18-4: Bears top-
ping the Eagles, 21-7; Medics
trouneinf? the Rebels, 28 5; and
Buffs over the Oilers, 13-2
Next games wall be Thursday
evening.
