' It seems that you turn around and that precious moment, the
treasure that you hold closely, with open hands, has flown through
your fingers.
It’s a flight that brings pleasure, yet it brings up pangs of
pictorial nostalgia, precious, beautiful pangs, but they’re their
anyway — signifying growth, development and sudden departure.,
We’re especially speaking of the pleasure that’s been going
on with the whirl of graduation parties for our young ladies who
are preparing to enter colleges over the nation this fall.
We came in for our share of partying last Saturday fox
daughter, Linda, who had her quota of friends over to spend a
few hours laughing, eating, talking and being perfectly wonder
ful teenagers.
Dip’s for 17 guests. Attending
from Big D were Mrs. Henry
Levine, mother of the bride-
elect and Mmes. Abe Myers,
Bessie Stoup, Maxine Angelstein,
William Kleinman. Sam Hill-
man, Steve Levine and Mrs.
Reuben Hillman and daughter,
Helen of Fort Worth. Members
of the Tuesday Club include
Mmes. Sam Karten, Max Bar-
nett, Louis Engleberg, Henry # .. ,
Wolf, Ben Edenbaum, Dave tlOSUlg Meeting
Abramson, Reuben Hillman and ® ®
Sam Spigel. The honoree was
presented with a complete place
setting of stainless flatware.

Though we don’t often talk
about our youngsters in this
corner, we wonder how many
other mothers shared similar
•tlhioughts: Yesterday they were
rumblings in a labor - pained
tummy — now, presto! YOUNG
LADIES! Getting ready for col-
lege or the university with a
myriad of miracles that life will
ment of Nostalgia. Now let’s
hold in store for them, too.
Well, enough for the Depart-
get down to the business of hop-
ping around ourtown.
Big news is the tentatively
planned trip by Sylvia and Jer-
ry Wolens to Israel, where
they’ll spend ten days, Rome,
Paris and London. Sylvia and:
Jerry were supposed to leave
earlier but dad, Ben Rosenthal’s
bout in the hospital delayed
their departure. We wish ever
smiling Ben a speedy recovery.
We hear he’s doing fine. Pres-
ent plans call for the Wolens to
leave Tuesday, May 18 and fly
to New York, where they’ll
spend a few days seeing the
shows. Then its off to Israel
With a caravan of B’nai B’rith
for the second annual conven-
tion of the organization to be
held outside the United Staes.
The first one out of the U. S.
was also held in Israel in 1959.
Jerry, who is an aviator, con-
stantly in demand as an me,
is an executive and partner in
Standard Meat Co. He’s an elect-
ed delegate to the convention
which will hold its opening
session in Jerusalem and then
hold meetings in Tel Aviv and
in the amphitheatre near the
Roman ruins of Caesarea where
they will be addressed by Prime
Minister Levi Eshkol. Sylvia,
we trust, will have time — if
but a few bare moments — to

take along her sketch book, if
she can’t manage the pallet and
brushes. Sylvia is an accom-
plished artist and we know
she’ll delight in the antiquity
that will be spellbinding._
Incidentally, speaking of Jer-
ry and Sylvia, we heard that
folks enjoyed the swimming
party the Manny Rosenthals
gave honoring all past officers
and board members of Temple
Beth-El who served during the
last three years. The party com-
bined a short board meeting and
a few committee meetings with
the funfest.
By the time you’ll be reading
(this, your scribe and TJPost
Editor-Publisher Jimmy Wisch,
the jess jawin of our tribe (he
always says I’m the High Com-
mand but I know whose “Jaw’
barks the orders!), will be con-
ventioning in Atlanta. From
there it will be to Miami Beach,
where we plan to cover the
scene. Then we may have a few
travel reports for you when we
return to ourtown. We just re-
ceived a beautiful airmail letter
from former ourtowners Marion
and Eli Fahn, who now call At-
lanta home. They say, “We’re
thrilled to learn that you’re
coming to Atlanta . . .” Eli has
a few board meetings that co-
incide with our convention, but
the Fahn’s promise that we’ll
get together somehow and
“We’ll tell you all about us
when we see you. We keep up
with you and the (Dallas), and
F'ort Worth ‘doings’ that are fit
to print ...” We sure hope we
can make that reunion.
On the entertainment scene,
we learned that members of the
Tuesday Club entertained Bev-
erly Levine, of Dallas, who is
the bride-elect of Arthur Hill-
man with a dinner at Jimmy

Speaking of parties, Bernard
and Lilaine Goldman, returned
from New York where they
journeyed May 7 for the happy
occasion .of announcing their

grandmother, Mrs. Tillie Silver-
man, and, aunt, Mrs. Norman,
Tankel, came in from Chicago.
In addition to the party (a din-
ner for 75, relatives and close
friends of the groom) Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Taxin (Stephen’s
aunt and uncle) had a dinner

and Mrs. Arthur J. Brown,

Hopping around ourtown we
hear that just a week after Syd
and George Rashti rturned from
an extended visit with her sis-
ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Al-
fred I. Bornstein in Las Ange-
los, Syd received a hurry - up
phone call to return to Las An-
gelos from the pre-nuptial fesl
tivities and wedding of her
nephew, Bernard Bornstein to
Paula Leonara Paulisky.
During her last visi to Los
Angeles, her husband, George
and children, the Dr. Paul Sap-
ersteins and brother, Aaron
Rashti attended the races in
Louisville. Mr. Louis Marish, of
the Empire City, is visiting with
his daughter, and son-in-law,
the Sam Kartens, who now in-
cidentally live at 1136 E. Vick-
ery. Arriving last Sunday, also
from Gotham, was Mr6. Lena
“Mom” Rapfogel, for a stay with
her sons and their families, the
Dr. Irv and Marty Rapfogels.
Doing double duty while here
during their anticipated May
30th visit will be Dr. and Mrs.
Sidney Cohen of Stroudsburg,
Pa., who will be visiting with
children the Dr. Donald Cohens.
Don, quite an athlete in tennis
and ping-pong, has arranged for
a three-generation fishing trip
on the Gulf Coast for his dad,
and son, Danny. Of course,
prime purpose of the visit of
(the Sr. Cohens was to visit new
