* On Sunday, April 18, the Dallas Chapter of the Juvenile
I Diabetes Foundation will hold its annual Walk-A-Thon at
™ four sites in the Metroplex. These will be held at the
Chisholm Bluebonnet Trails, Plano, White Rock Bike Trail,
Bachman Bike Trail, in Dallas and the Trinity River Bike
Trail in Fort Worth. There are 10 million diabetics in this
country. Of these 1.5 million have juvenile [or insulin-de-
pendent] diabetes, which is the most severe form of the
disease. Over a period of time, many diabetics suffer from
blindness, heart disease, kidney failure and stroke. The
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation is a nationally accredited
voluntary health organization dedicated to educating the
public and through it, gaining the support needed to fund
research to arrest the complications and ultimately find a
cure. Over 85 percent of the funds raised goes directly
towards this purpose. More than $13,000,000 has been
appropriated since JDF’s inception 12 years ago, and they
s have realized five major breakthroughs. For additional
I information, contact Bette Sexton or Naomi Levinson,
