BBG 300
By Shirley Cohen, President
Dallas B’nai B’rith Girls No.
300 extends their heartiest good
wishes to everyone for a happy
and prosperous New Year. May the
new year have many wonderful
things in store for each and ev-
eryone of you.
Looking back on this past
year, there has been much joy
and trouble, too, as usual, but
that is what makes the world go
round, or so the saying goes.
Dallas BBG No. 300 is starting
ing the new year with new mem-
bers and old and new projects
with the hope that we can re-
main a strong chapter of B’nai
B’rith Girls and become even
greater. One new project is the
Civilian Defense Project which is
helping, in our way, to make
soldiers a little happier away
from home by writing them let-
ters and going to USO dances.
Another of our projects is going
as volunteer nurses ot Hope Cot-
tage, the Community Chest Bab-
ies’ Orphan Home, and making
stuffed dolls for the Children’s
Hospitals.
With Renee Romick as our Na-
tional President, we, BBG’s, know
that this next year of BBG will
be the greatest one ever.
A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO ALL!!

x£ MY LIFETIME —
— Continued from P-1, Sec. IV
“They are on the way,” I said.
This time we may not be so lucky.
This time, they may come to our
hut - - ”
In Batya’s eyes I could read
the rest of what they might do,
but we did not speak of it. We
packed a little food - - there was
only a little, and with no belong-
ings but the clothers we Wore, we
out next morning with our bocks
to the past. For days we walked
over heat-parched roads, meeting
on the. way groups of others who
believed like ourselves, the legend
that Zion had been restored. And
thus, -we stayed alive, in the heat
of the day and through thirst and
hunger, walking slowly, painfully,
in shoes not even a cobbler could
repair, struggling on only because
us that Jews of a far country - -
we believed in the prophecy of
I the Book; the Jews of Yemen
[would fly to Israel on the wings
or eagi-es. xes, the cobbler’s chil-
dren had shoes, but they were not
! meant for 'walking from one na-
1 tion to another.
We walked out of Yemen.
When we reached a colony called
Aden there was a truck, which
drove us to a town like a crater
scooped out Oi the earth on the
rim of the Red Sea. We hod
walked out of one land into
another. And here we met peo-
ple who seemed to expect us, to
have known that we were com-
ing.
These people were Jews - - but
such Jews as I had never seen.
In their eyes was the look of
men who are free and not afraid.
Their faces were shaven clean,
thiedr bodies strong. They told
us that Jews of a for country - -
the United States — had sent
them to help ns. These men told
us they would help us reach la-
walk'from the land we know that
