man, 5611 Northaven Road, who
died on September 21 were con-
ducted by Rabbi Max Zucker on
September 22. Survivors include his

The Dallas community mourned
for Robert Lichten, considered one
of the world’s outstanding engi-
neers in helicopter aviation as
Rabbi Gerald Klein officiated at
services on September 21 at Lefko-
witz Chapel of Temple Emanu-El
Cremation followed

An outstanding community lead-
ers, Lichten, 50, of 6338 Aberdeen
died in Providence Hosiptal in
Waco on September 18 about 30
minutes after his automobile went
out of control on IH 35, about 16
miles south of Waco in McCleannan,
County.
Lichten was returning from a
meeting of the board of directors
of the Texas Civil Liberties Union
in Austin.
He had worked for Bell Heli-
copter Co. since 1948, and was
director of advanced research. A
graduate of Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, he had been respon-
sible for the design and develop-
ment of the UH-1 (Huey) and the
jet Ranger helicopter tor Bell.
Lichten was also immediate
past president and chairman of the
board of the American Helicopter
Society. In 1962, he received the
AHS’s Klemin Award for his deve-
lopment of the XV-3 convertiplane,
a combination of airplane and heli-
copter.
Born in Philadelphia, Lichten
had lived in Dallas since 1952.
He was a past president and current
.vice-president of the Dallas Chaptei
of the American Civil Liberties
Union, a past presidnet of Dallas
United Nations Association, vice-
president of the Texas Civil Liber-
ties Union, member of the board
of the League for Educational Ad-
vancement
secretary of Dallas Chapter of
the American Jewish CommitTee, a
member of the Dallas Chamber
Music Society and a member of
Temple Emanu-EL.

Funeral services for Harry Stenz-
ler of 5335 Waneta, were con-
ducted by Rabbi Gerald Klein on
September 22 at Sparkman Hill-
crest Northwest. Burial will be in
Montifiore Cemetery in Philadel-
pia.
A native of Philadelphia and
resident of Dallas for 38 years,
he died qu September 18. He was
a member oT Temple Emanu-El
its Choir and Brotherhood; a past
vice-president of B’nai B’rith; a
32nd degree Mason and a member
of Pentagon Lodge, Hella Temple
Shrine and the Knight Commander
of Court of Honor. Survivors in-
clude his wife, two daughters, Mrs.
Mortin Jaffe and Mrs. Morris Robi-
i nowitz, a brother, Carl Stenzler,
all of Dallas; sister Mrs. Mildred ,
Mildred Winegrad of Philadelphia
and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Kitty Sten-
zlcr of New York City.
