Americans have reason to be proud of the role they and their
Government have played in the establishment and development of the
democracy of Israel. The historic accomplishments of this new
. -/
nation have reflected high courage, zeal and creative ability.
But Israel’s progress toward economic independence and peace is being
made difficult by the danger of possible attack. The economic
freedom that so many men and women have worked so hard to
achieve is in jeopardy. The homeland which they have built with
so much sacrifice, heartbreak and devotion is threatened more
seriously today than since the days when thei State of
Israel first proclaimed its independence.
In this crucial hour, since the people of Israel must devote all of
their energies and resources to build their defenses in order to resist
and repel attack, their one great hope of survival is through
maintainihg their economic strength. And that can be done if we
provide them with the means to continue their industrial and
agricultural development.
This is no time for lamentation. This is a time for action to prove
that Israel is here to stay, that we are prepared! to help Israel retain
her right to live as a democratic nation and to enjoy
the fruits of her economic achievements.
In doing crur part, let us be guided by the fact that the people of Israel
will never yield to fear or despair. They are determined to sacrifice
their lives if necessary to preserve their freedom and their right to
economic independence. This is a people worth our confidence
<
and our support.

Hadassah To Form
Young Matron’s Group
The Fort Worth Chapter of
Hadassah is offering a new op-
portunity to its younger Set in
the form of a Young Matron’s
Group, which is aimed at those
young women who find it incon-
venient to meet with the Regular
Group. Many of these young women
are members already of Hadassah,
but" have been inactive because of
baby-sitting problems or because
they find so few of their own age
group at the regular meetings.
Young Matrons Groups are being
formed all over the country, and
through this means, not only is an
inactive group given an opportunity
to do their part, but from these
women immerge the leaders of the
future!
The Younger group remains a
part of the local Chapter and are
welcome to attend all meetings and
functions, however, they will elect
their own president and will de-
cide on a meeting time convenient
for them, possibly in the evening.
A main feature of this group will
be a Study Group which will com-
bine a Leadership Training Course,
study of Jewish events, and Ha-
dassah projects.
Anyone interested in joining this
group may receive further infor-
mation by calling Mrs. Herbert
Berkowitz or Mrs. Sherwin Rubin,
Chairmen in charge of organiza-
tion, or Mrs. Charles Anton, Chap-
ter President.
