TEWELE—KARLAN
Dr. and Mrs. Victor Tewele,
1604 Fifth y 4. venue, announce
the marriage of their daughter,
Susarne Jene to Sheldon Jer-
ome Karlan, son of Mrs. Rae G.
Kaplan of Los Angeles. The
marriage took place on Feb. 23
at the West LOs Angeles Syna-
gogue.
The newly-weds reside at 441
South Barrington, Apartment 14 j
in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Karlan attended the Uni-
versity of Oklahoma and UCLA.
Mr. Karlan was graduated from
the University of Missouri,
where he majored in journa-
lism. ' i
on many ocean liners. However,
the rabbinate cautioned that if
that happened it would nloit is-
sue a certificate of kashruth for
the “Shalom” and that it might
in addition cancel its kashruth
certifications for other Zim-
owned liners. The Zim line con-
tended that there was ample
precedent for granting kashruth
certificates to ships with dual
kitchens and that a survey it
made showed it would lose bust
ness if it had only one kitchen
—a kosher one.
The newT vessel is scheduled
to make its maiden run within
a month.
