A collision between two freight compliance with the Request of
trains occurred below Jalupa on
the Literooeanic railway yester-
day morning and Engineers Corey
and Michael met their deaths.
The regul :r freight train left Vera
Cruzatlnlf past two yesterday
morning in two heavily loaded
sections. The second section
was in charge of Engineers
Thomas ami Corey. At a siding
on the mountain the first section
p's ed freight train No.. 5, iu
charge of Engineer Mich tel, on
route to Vera Cruz. Michael
failed to observe the signals on
1he first section, couveying the in-
telligence that there was a second
section following the first train,
and h is owing to his carelessness
1 hut he lost his own life and
caused tho death of his brother
engineer, Corey.
Disregarding the signuls dis-
played on first section of No. 10,

sage from Representative W. F.
Adams today stating that he in-
troduced a bill in the house this
morning complying with the fol
lowing resolution which was
adopted by the South Texas
Truck Growers* association at
its meeTtng in this city last week:
Resolved, That we reqnst the
legislature to pass a law prohib-
iting the manufacture or sa'eof
adulterated fertilizers.
The bill will no doubt be put
through and become a law. Mr.
fjnsh it as it should be.
This association’s good work is
already becoming apparent.
Engineer Michael proceeded to a Adams can be depended upon to
