Registration open for Head Start
Texas Neighborhood Services of Erath County is now
recruiting 3-5-year-olds for Home Base and Head Start.
The programs serve income eligible, foster and homeless
families and recipients of TANF and SSL
Services include: programs to enhance child growth and
development; assistance to new parents with health,
education and self-sufficiency; programs promoting school
readiness; services for children with serious or severe
disabilites; and possible transportation to help parents
with medical and dental appointments of the child.
(Transportation is not provided to the Head Start center.)
When applying, parents will need: the child’s birth
certificate; current shot record; Medicaid or other health
insurance card (if applicable); proof of income for the past
12 months.
For Early Head Start, parents also need to provide proof
of working 30+ hours per week or full-time enrollment in
school (or a combination of both).
There is no charge to families that are accepted into
Head Start or Early Head Start.

DISD offers free summer meals
The Dublin Independent School District is participating
in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be
provided to all children, 18 and under, without charge and
are the same for all children regarless of race, color,
national origin, sex, age or disability and there will be no
discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Meals will be provided at Dublin Intermediate School
Monday thru Thursday, June 3 thru June 2 7.
Breakfast will be from 7:30 a.m. -8 a.m. and Funch noon-1

Cemetery groups to meet
The Victor Cemetery will hold its annual meeting Saturday
May 25th. Everyone is invited.
The Altman Cemetery will have its annual cleanup at 8 a.m.
on May 25 as those in attendance mow and cleanup the
grounds.This will be followed by a short business meeting at
10 a.m. All interested parties are invited to attend. For more

The annual Hasse Community Homecoming and Sardis
Cemetery meeting will be held on Sunday, May 26. The
meetings will begin with a brisket pot-luck lunch at noon at
the Hasse Community Center (320 CR317). Utensils, plate and
tea will be provided. The Community Center business meeting
will start at 12:30 p.m. and the cemetery meeting will be at 1

The annual meeting of the Pecan Cemetery will be held at
11 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th at the cemetery.

The Cow Creek Cemetery Association will hold its annual
meeting on June 8, 2013. Interested parties are encouraged to
join the group at the cemetery at noon for a pot luck luncheon

ECUW cooking up fundraiser
Erath County United Way members will be grilling hot dogs
for a Memorial Day fundraiser every day of the holiday
weekend in the Big Fots parking lot in Stephenville.
They will be serving up fresh grilled hot dogs and chips from
noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday (May 25), Sunday (May 26) and
Monday (May 27).
Rollergirls hosting paint ball tourney
The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls will be hosting a paintball
tournament on Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m. at FCS Paintball (6052
Fall Creek Hwy, Granbury).
The tournament will feature 5-man teams with a rollergirl
joining every team upon check in. Registration is $5 per
person and includes a gun, mask and unlimited air. Field paint
is available for $19 for 500 units or $56 for a 2000 unit case.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st-3rd places and kids ages 8-12
will be entered into a special Young Guns division.

WMO sets First Saturday Giveaway
World Ministry Outreach of Stephenville will, again, host
its First Saturday Clothes Giveaway beginning at 8 a.m. June
2. Clothes in excellent condition will be given away until
noon at the church located at 510 E. Hwy 8.
Clothes are available in all sizes for men, women and
children. There are no restrictions or requirements for those
needing clothes. No donation is expected and never
requested.

18, passed away Thursday,
May 16, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services were
Monday, May 20, 2013 at
Thompson’s Harveson &
Cole Funeral Home.

Cemetery, Comanche.

Brian was bom Sept. 14,
1994 in Stephenville. He
attended Tanglewood
Elementary and McFean
Middle School and was home
schooled until he attended
Paschal High School.
He worked at Scarborough
Fair since he was 14 years
old where he currently was a
juggler and designed his
own costumes. He loved his
family and friends, listening
to music and making people
laugh.
He was preceded in death
by his grandfather, Marshall
Burke.
Survivors include Parents,
Michael William Burke and
Beverly Ann Ferrill Burke;
siblings, SeanBurke, Shannon
DeRosier, Becky Olson and
Jaclyn Yarborough;
grandparents, Jack and
Wanda Ferrill (Mum and
Grandad) and numerous
aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and cousins
including, Travis, Mattie and
Ally who were as close as
brothers and sisters to him.
Lois McIntosh
MCINTOSH
Fois Marie McIntosh, 83, of
Dublin died Tuesday, May 21,
2013 at her home.
On March 6, 1930, she was
bom in Sobol, Okla. to George
Washington Bryant and Ertie
Fouannie Dewees.
She was married on Oct. 21,
1946 to Ernest Fee McIntosh
who preceded her in death.
In life, she worked as a
machinist in steel fabrication
and was a member of
Community Baptist Church.
McIntosh was also preceded
in death by her grandson,
Scott McIntosh.
She is survived by three
sons, Wylie McIntosh of
Granbury, John McIntosh of
Coriscana and Darrell
McIntosh of Dublin; a
daughter, Pat McIntosh of
Corsicana; four brothers,
Fawrence, Hershel, Ernest
and Loyd Bryant; a sister,
Mamie Tramel; eight
grandchildren, and 11 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, May 23 at 11 a.m.
at Harrell Memorial Chapel,
Rev. Harold Roan officiating,
with burial at Hanson
Cemetery.

Tommy Parrott, 83, a retired
senior land surveyor, were
held Wednesday, May 22,
2013, at the Old Dublin
Cemetery with Rev. Dean
Bradley officiating. Visitation
was Tuesday, May 21, 2013,
at Facy Funeral Home.

Funeral Home.
Tomniv was bom in Crane,
Texas on January 27, 1930,
to Harlan Glenn “Pete” and
Gertmde Marie (Witcher)
Parrott. He married Emma
Marcelle Prater on November
24, 1955, in Dublin, Texas.
He was a member of the
Methodist Church and the
American Fegion. Tommy
was a Korean Conflict Army
veteran.
Survivors include wife,
Marcelle Parrott of San
Angelo, Texas; sons, Michael
Parrott of Fake IMngston,
Texas, William “Bill” Parrott
and wife, Julie, of Atlanta,
Texas, and Richard “Mark”
Parrott and wife, Mary Fou,
of Spring, Texas;
grandchildren, Chris Howell,
Cody Parrott, Nicholas
Parrott, Daniel Parrott, and
Emily Parrott; and four great-
grandchildren.

Whiteley, 46 will be at 4
p.m. on Thursday, May 23,
2013 at First Baptist Church
of Roby with burial at Roby
Cemetery. He died on May
20, 2013.
Born May 30, 1966 in San
Angelo, TX, he was the son
of the late R.C. and Jewel
Estelle (Rich) Whiteley.
James graduated from
Dublin High School and
attended Tarleton State and
was in the process of
studying Theology.
He married Brandy
Griffith in Dublin on Feb.
14, 1997. He owned a
Dominoe’s Pizza franchise
in Sweetwater.
Whiteley was also a
member of the First Baptist
Church of Roby and was
licensed to the Gospel
Ministry on Oct. 23, 2011
and was ordained as a
church deacon in 2012.
He is survived by his wife;
two daughters, Catherine
and Jeweleigh Whiteley of
Roby; and one sister, Linda
Sanders of De Leon.
