anniversary events
Burleson Baptist Temple is
celebrating the fourth anniver-
sary of Pastor Don Womble, and
they have a big celebration
planned for Sunday
Among the special presen-
tations at the 10:30 a m. worship
service will be Mark Lowry from
Jerry Falwell’s "Old Time Gospel
Hour” and an entertaining jfer-
formance of the teachings ol
Christ by the group "Clowns
lor Christ.”
Lowry has been singing publicly
since the age ol 5. He is well
known among Fundamental
Baptist as a young man that
sings from the heart and lives
what he sings.
In addition to experience on
the Gospel Hour, he has sung all
over the United States and
several foreign countries.
Originating in Phoenix, Ari/.,
“Clowns for Christ, Inc." is the
theme for Rev. Bob Kahn, Sr.
and his wife Alice ol Cleburne.
They perform irr Baptist churches
in an entertaining and unusual
approach to evangelism. A non-
profit Christian organization, it is
one of the oldest lull time clown-
ing ministries in America. Design-
ed for youth, the ministry has
reached people ol all ages.
Pastor Womble invites everyone
to attend the special services
Sunday. He served as associate
pastor from 1973 to 1978, then
returned as pastor in August ol
1981 During his ministry, the
church has grown from 80 in at-
tendance to an average ol 240
per Sunday presently.
Dur ing Womble's total ol seven
years ministry to Burleson Bap-
tist Temple, they have added se-
cond story Sunday school looms
to the building, adding 2,500
square I eel
Various ministries include:
support ol 28 foreign mission
projects monthly, ladies Welcome
Wagon visitation program, rest
home ministries, bus pick-up ser-
vice, children's and adult choirs,
"Through your Bible” weekly
devotionals, senior citizens class,
and the day school, with 75 pie-
school children enrolled.
Rock music to be explored at Crestmont
seminar scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15
After several years of in-depth
research, Michael K. Haynes, a
former professional musician,
has completed an analysis of the
multi-billon dollar industry known
as ‘rock music.’ Acclaimed by
many as the most comprehensive
information ever compiled, "The
god of Rock” seminar will be
■presented at Crestmont Baptist
Church Sunday, Sept. 15 at the 7
p.m. evening service.
Ross Hardgrove of Houston
will conduct the seminar, which
is designed to meet the needs of
every age group. The seminar
will help you understand the im-
pact rock music is having upon
young people today. The 60
minute educational presentation
provides a detailed look at five-
major themes of rock music: sex,
drugs, rebellion, false religions,
and Satanism.
The question, "Rock music,
what it it really?" will be ex-
plored. Rock music is more than
just the loud sound or the bizarre
behavior, according to .research.
It has progressed into an ex-
tremely powerful form of com-
munication.
There is no cost for the
seminar; a love offering will be
received. A nursery is provided
for the event. Pastor Gil Lain and
Music/Youth Minister Rick Eu-
banks invite all interested parties
to attend.
