To be or not to be...in shape
It happens das time every year When the reeling comes
aver me. I never seem to be acie to resist it. Once it’s run its
course, along about mid-July or August I ail myself Til
never get into tins predicament again But somehow I always
fail xm fee same trap.
It’s fee annual T need to get more exercise syndrome On
fee surface it would seem to be a good thing doctors would
probably applaud it Pushing a pend or typewriter key as it
were fir eight to 10 hours daily producing copy far this
publication only provides exercise for my ringers and my
brain.
I DON'T H-AVE A PROBLEM with my fingers The rings
sell fit and everything I'm not sc sure about fee pram. It's
fee rest of my body feat I worry about. It’s those areas in dire
need of a physical f.tness program feat goes oeyoed walking
around fee back yard to see if fee new grass seedlings have
sprouted yet
At this same time every year I become aware at lackluster
arm and Leg muscles just fcnd a# banging there And there re
always more abundant than when I Last checked on them
These oeaervahocs usually came when Fm in fee company af
a friend who 3 really 'into' exercise Far some reason feat
friend s always about 10-12 years my nuuor and Fm 25-30
pounds Lie- senior It never fills
It is said that pr.de goes before a fail. Even with feat warn-
xg you can rest assured a woman m or near ner 40 s will
seldom fern down the suggestion at regular exercise from a
younger woman. "Hey. that's a great idea’ I'd love tod
aerobics to your two-hour tape every morning, she may res
pond. She will wonder later how she s going to get out of it
EXERCISING TO A TAPE recording is an experience an
itseif The novice is in for a real surprise You can count on a
cheerful electronic instructor telling you the proper way. to
do 99 leg lifts Legs just weren t created for that kina^of
punishment The exerciser is encouraged throughout the ex-
perience to keep going' by a cutesy voice that's not even
breathing hard. Thirty minutes into my first aerobics lesson
by tape I was muttering. 'You keep on going, lady I've had
it." These tapes can create malice in your heart for the
owner of that voice I'm not so sure that's good for you
So. if one thing doesn't work out well, the next year you try
something else Fm dabbling in jogging this year though a
real runner..might question my definition Actually. I do a lit-
tle jogging and a lot of fast walking, just so I won't be too far
behind Star Advertising Manager Chr.s Akey I hate for her
to have to wait Longer than 15 minutes at the end of the exer-
cise trail at Chisenhall Park You can just take in so much
scenery, however beautiful, before boredom sets in
WE'VE BEEN THERE often enough now to have the trail
route figured out through trial and error We re even beginn-
ing to recognize some familiar faces out there Sometimes as
we're rounding the bend on the last leg of the journey, we see
a jogger walker starting back for his or her second time
around the trail.
Chris hasn't suggested that to me yet She's a real friend
