ways in good shape, and the grounds

Mrs. T. N1. Mauritz of Guuudo as The
Mother of the Texas Conference.
Following is a part of the write-
up appearing’in the publication:
Among the many outstanding moth-
ers In Texas, no one is better known
nor more beloved than Mrs. T. N.
Mauritz of Ganado, Texas, whom we
honor today.
-Mrs. Mauritz, nee Sallio E. Lind-
sey, was born February 18, 1877 ut
Batesvillc, Arkansas. She moved to
Guuudo, Texas with her parents in
1897, during which time she taught
school at Edna, Texas. On Septem-
ber 17, 1899, she was united in mar-
riage to Mr. T. N. Mauritz of Gana-
do. I .41 il
Upon joining our. Lutheran Church
ut Ganado, Mrs. Mauritz became an
active worker in this Sunday School
and church, where her husband was
u charter member. During ull the
years, Mrs. Mauritz lias been a do
voted member of the W. M. S. She
became an honorary life member
several years ago, and lias made her
three daughters life members. She
was elected tlie first Conference Life
and in Meuioriam Secretary, and has
served as president of our South
District during two different periods,
since its organization.
I11 tlie Publication “These Fifty
Years,” it is stated that Mrs.
Mauritz is a real friend of missions,
encouraging the organization of so
cleties and giving liberally. She or-
ganized tlie Galveston Society in 1929,
and lias led the Ganado Society for
many years, and is still active.
One df her outstanding qualities
Per gracious hospitality. Ilcr love
for flowers is evidenced in her beau-
tiful home surroundings. The home
Mr. and Mrs. Mauritz continues
to be an appreciated stopping plase fur
our pastors, their families and
friends.
Mrs. Mauritz and her husband, who
is a member of the church's foreign
Mission Board, are very generous in
their gifts to missions, and support
missionary and family ou the
foreign fields.
In September of this year, Mr.
and Mrs. Mauritz plan to celebrate
their Golden Wedding anniversary.
We wish for them God’s continued
blessings, and may they enjoy many
more years of service in His King-
dom.

Substantial Investment
Edwin D. Judd, manager of the
Edna Fanners Co-Op. rice drier and
storage plant in the eastern part of
the city, was a business visitor at the
Herald office Monday.
He informs us that the Edna Farm-
ers Co-Op is having four storage tanks
erected, each tank holding 1,800 bar-
rels of rice. The tanks are 56 feet
high. Other improvements are being
made at the plant also. This entire
addition totaling about $20,000.
And thns we see the old town and
business institutions grow.

Again.
The Edna High School Baud, di-
rected by It. J. Kluge, won another
first place trophy last week, lids lime
at the Kenedy Flux Festlvul. The
Edna Bund wgs judged the best
marching Band In a contest held Sat-
urday.
Director Kluge said that it was pos-
sible for a band to win only one first
place at tills contest, and tile Edna
band trained for ibis event and .
