Fouls not in short supply in championship
Burleson Star, Wednesday, April 11,1990—7
;■ C ontinued from Pj>. 6
oppose the officiating and voted to
continue the game without it.
Anderson and members of
BARW honored the request, and the
game continued without further
monitoring. It was up to the individ-
ual players to call their own fouls.
And that is exactly what they
did—over and over again. When the
dust settled, however, the two teams
shixik hands and accepted the verdict
with no argument and all went home.
"The final two games did get a
little rough,” said Wohlgemuth, "but
in three-on-three basketball, it al-
ways gets a little rough. This year’s
championship game was a lot friend-
lier than last year’s game. 1 was im-
pressed with the overall sportsmen-
ship and cooperation of the learns.
^ v *\ /.
"We also1 got a lot of positive
feedback from players. One team
told us that since the tournament was
so organized we should have two a
year. Rob Couty, of the Men’s Open
championship team, said that our
tournament was organized belter
than the Fort Worth Star Telegram
Star Shoot Out."
Couty s team finished with a 5-1
record and the Snipers finished with
a 6-2 record.
Members of Couty’s team in-
clude Rob Gouty, Calvin Bascmorc,
Tony Tayk r, and Sheldon A. Muir,
all of Fort Worth.
Members of the second place
Snipers include Terry Baines, Wil-
liam Moore. Lawrence Williams,
and William Potter, all of Ailmgton.
As for next year, the organiza-
tion plans to continue with tbe bas-
ketball tournament Players come
from all over to join in the fun,
Wohlgemuth said, but to die be si of
her knowledge there were only three
teams from Burleson, two in Men s
Open and one in Slow Motion, Next
year Wohlgemuth wants to encour-
age more participation from Burle-
son players. She is sure they will not
regret it.
