Marlcy Jones is the only candidate
seeking his party's nomination for
sheriff. He says he will encourage
rural watch programs similar to the
neighborhood watch programs in the
cities.
On the Democratic ballot, the
following are running uncontested
for ci unty office:
• -County attorney, Bill Moore.
• -County tax assessor/collector,
incumbent W.E. Carroll.
—County party chairman: Bob
Craft.
On the Republican ballot, Ar-
lene Wohlgemuth of Burleson is
running unopposed for county Re-
publican chairman. There are no
Republican candidates for the office
of county attorney or county tax as-
sessor/collector.
C.C. "Kit" Cooke is running
unopposed for re-election to the
judgeship of the 18th District Court
and will have no Republican oppo-
nent in November.
Cnee the Democrats have a nom-
inee 1 or the county court of law No. 2,
there will be no opposition from
Republicans in November, but right
now that's a three-man race.
Bill Mason points out in his
campaign that he is the only candi-
date '«'ho has participated in over 150
jury trails and the only candidate
board certified in criminal law by the
supreme court.
Tim Altaras notes in his cam-
paign that he has experience in both
civil and criminal cases and that he
has the energy and stamina to handle
the hundreds of cases that will come
before the court.
Bill Anderson is a former Demo-
cratic county chairman and served as
president of the Cleburne school
board. He says he will administer
strict punishment on drug charges
and oilier criminal cases.
In Precinct 1, Jack Hewlett and
R.C. ’Mac" McFall are seeking the
job of commissioner on the Demo-
crats ballot.
In Precinct 3, which includes a
portion of the Burleson area includ-
ing CR 600, Bobby Estes is seeking
re-nomination unopposed. In Novem-
ber, his Republican challenger will
be Gene Roy, who is unopposed on
the Republican ballot
Also in Precinct 3, Mark C.
Carpenter and Dean Allen are seek-
ing the constable’s position.
In Precinct 2, which includes a

"Bill" Taylor, Sam Love, and Dale
Love. One Republican, Jimmy John-
son, is on his party's ballot for con-
stable of Precinct 2.
Precinct 4 constable candidates
for the Democrats arc Tommie Po-
teet and Lonnie Bright. The Republi-
can nominee on the ballot is Walter
Cox, Sr.
There are 11 names on the
Democratic ballot for president—
Paul Tsongas, Rufas Higginbottom,
Charles Woods, Bill Clinton, Bob
Kerrey, George Benns, Tod Howard
Hawks, Tom Harkin, Lyndon La-
Rouche, Jr., J. Louis McAlpinc, and
Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
Clinton, tire former Arkansas
governor, is favored to win the state's
Democratic delegates.
On the Republican ballot, five
names are listed as potential presi-
dential nominees. Besides George
Bush and Patrick Buchanan, they are
David Duke, George Zimmerman,
and Tennie Rogers.
ForU.S. Representative, District
6, the Democrats list Frank Smith
and John Dietrich. On the Republi-
can ballot is incumbent Joe Barton
and Mike McGinn.
For District 12, Democratic in-
cumbent Pete Geren is unchallenged
in his party. The Republicans are
running David Hobbs and Terry Lee
Hicks.
Both ballots also list two choices
for railroad commissioner. The
Democrats are running David Young
and Lena Guerrero. On the Republi-
can ballot are Carole Keeton Rylan-
der and Barry Williamson.
For justice of the Supreme Court,
Place 1, Democrat Oscar Mauzy is
running unopposed as is Rose Spec-
tor in Place 2. In Place 3, two Demo-
crats, Paul Banner and Jack High-
tower, are seeking the Democratic
nomination.
. The Republicans have Charles
Ben Howell and Craig Enoch run-
ning for Place 1 on theSupremeCourt
and John Montgomery and George
Barbary seeking Place 3. In Place 2,
