laced with humor and colorful char-
acterization. It is the love story of a
Virginia mountain girl and a Scottish
privateer with a price on his head.
Kathe Robin, reviewer for "Roman-
tic Times," who previously called
Birmingham a "winning new talent,"
writes that the novel "takes the reader
on a roller coaster ride from the Vir-
ginia wilderness to Boston rebel
strongholds, to the Scottish High-
lands and finally to the battle of
Lexington and Concord.”
She calls it one of the "most
charming romances of the season."
Birmingham’s 1991 release, Spit-
fire, was a nominee for a Reviewer's
Choice Award, a winner in the Texas
Presswomen's Communication Con-
test, and won an Award of Excel-
lence. The author is a member of Ro-
mance Writers of America, Western
Writers of America, and National
Federation of Presswomen. She holds
26 awards for romance, humor, and
short fiction.
Birmingham enjoys talking with
readers and has a free list of writing
tips and addresses of area writing
groups for aspiring authors.
A resident of rural Burleson, she
is currently working on another con-
tracted novel for Avon Books.
