Commissioners Court of Jackson
County is authorized to construct
and equip an office building in the
county seat of said County, in
which building any one or more of
the county offices or any other
county facilities or functions may
be housed, conducted and main-
tained, and to pay for the const-
ruction and equipment of such
building by the issuance of negoti-
able bonds of the County and to
levy and collect taxes in payment
thereof; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners
Court deems it advisable and nec-
essary to issue bonds of the County
for the purpose of constructing and
equipping an office building in the
County seat of Jackson County;
and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners
Court deems it advisable and nec-
essary to submit to the qualified
voters of Jackson County, who are
property taxpayers who own tax-
able property in said County and
who have duly rendered the same
lor taxation, the proposition here-
inafter set forth;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDER-
ED BY THE COMMISSIONERS
COURT OF JACKSON COUNTY,
TEXAS:
That an election be heid on the
5th day of November, 1957, at!
which election the following pro-
position shall be submitted:
PROPOSITION
Shall the Commissioners Court
of Jackson County, Texas, be au- j
thorized to issue bonds of said
County in the sum of Thirty Thou-
sand ($30,000.00) Dollars, maturing
at such times as may be fixed by
the Commissioners Court, serially
or otherwise, not exceeding ten
(10) years from their date, bearing
interest at a rate not to exceed
five (5 percent) per cent per an-
num, and to levy a tax sufficient
to pay the current interest on said
bonds and create a sinking fund
sufficient to redeem them at ma-I
turity, for the purpose of construc-
ting and equipping an office build-!
ing in and for Jckson County," as
authorized by the Constitution and
Laws of the State cf Texas.
The polling places, presiding of-1
fleers, and special canvassing j
board for canvassing ballots of I
absentee voters, shall be as fol-
lows:

AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF OF-
FICE BUILDING BONDS AND
THE LEVYING OF THE TAX IN
PAYMENT THEREOF.
Each voter shall mark out with
black ink or black pencil one of
the above expressions, thus leaving
the other as indicating his vote on
the proposition.
The said election shall be held
under the provisions of Chapter 1,
Title 22, Revised Statutes, 1925,
and the Constitution and Laws of
the State of Texas, and only qua-
lified voters who own taxable prop-
erty in said County and who have
duly rendered the same for taxa-
tion, shall be allowed to vote.
A copy of this order signed by
the County Judge of said County
and attested by the County Clerk
of said County shall serve as prop-
er notice of said election.
The County Judge is authorized
and directed to cause said notice
of the election to be posted up at
the County Courthouse door and in
each election precinct at least fif-
teen (15) days prior to the date of
said election.
The County Judge is further au-
thorized and directed to cause said
notice of election to be published
in some newspaper of general cir-
culation published within said
County, on the same day in each
of two (2) successive weeks, the
date of the first publication to be
not less than fourteen (14) full
days prior to the date set for said
election.

R. Anderson, Jr., national director
of the Texas Junior Chamber of
Commerce, from Corpus Christi,
guest Monday night at the semi-
monthly meeting. Mr. Anderson
added some encouraging ideas on
membership procurement.

Ten membership placards have
been received and will be placed
in heavy traffic locales with infor-
mation on how to become a Jaycee
and how the Jaycee Club can bene-
fit an individual. Arnold also mov-
ed that the ciub conduct a “Speak
Up, Jaycee” program and open
the program to ail who are inter-
ested whether they are in Jaycee
age or not. Motion carried and in
the near future the club will hold
