“The Lord is a great God. He
holds the deepest part of the earth in
his hands, and the mountains are
his.” Psalm 95:3-4.
Sunday night was so great, with
the spirit of God all around. Our
young man, John Godwin, played
the-piano for us. He did really well.
“Keep it up, John.”
Bro. William is feeling better, but
please keep him in your prayers.
His lesson was from Psalm 86. The
Psalms are always interesting.
Saturday night, Feb, 7th, will be
work day at Shady Grove. All the
work is so much appreciated.
Wednesday night, Feb. 10th, at 7
p.m. will be business night. Come if
you can.
The Ladies Helping Hands will
meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11th.
Bring a dish and have a great fel-
lowship.
The Ladies Helping Hands will
sponsor a chili supper at 6:00 p.m
Saturday, Feb. 27th. All donations
will go to the Ladies Helping
Hand:.
Dec Ann Phillips has a new baby
girl. She is doing well. Mother and
baby plan to go home from the hos-
pital soon I know she and big sister
Michelle are proud of that little girl.

Friday morning. Diane and Joy will
really miss their dad. He was a good
person,
Larry Dickerson also passed
away Friday morning. He was 22
years old and a handsome young
man Larry was the son of Charles
and Mary Dickerson. Please keep
these families in your prayers. *

“He which testifieth these things
saith, “Surely I come quickly. A-
inen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."
Revelation 22:20
I have heard it said that things
could get worse Well, things did
gel worse for some people during
the recent storm Wc were not
home, and we got a shock as we
traveled from Greenville to Lone
Oak to East Tawakoni. Metal out-
buildings and barns were hit the
worse.
Nancy Simmons said that she and
her sister, Mary Bray, were at Lone
Oak when the storm hit, and it
scared them. Geneva Smith in
Indian Hills suffered roof and other
damages Some people got in their
closets to escape the storm’s fury.
We had a wonderful time at
church Sunday. Bro. Jeff Thompson
preached to us Jennifer Thompson
sang a beautiful solo. Bro. Turner
sang a solo in (he evening service.
They did a wonderful job and
blessed our hearts.
During the Sunday school hour,
the church sang Happy Birthday to
Tyson Thompson who was nine on
January 28th and to Tammy Miller
who will be 17 on February 2nd.
We enjoyed cake and punch just
before our Sunday school lesson.
Jeff Wallace will have a birthday
on February 5th. Robby Hartogs
birthday is February 9th.
We were happy to have Robby
and Christy Hartog visiting in our
church Sunday. Clara Hewitt had
some visitors with her. Her grand-
daughter Dayia, her grandsons,
Charlie and Caleb, and their moth-
er.
We missed Milton and Ida
Jopling because of illness.
Our church is small but we have a
wonderful group of people.
Everyone checked on each other
during and after (he storm to sec if
all were all right. Wc care about and
love each other. Of course, we have
room for others also. .
"Beloved, believe not every spir-
it, but try the spirits whether they
are of God. because many false
prophets are gone out into the
world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of
God: Every spirit that confesscth
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is of God." I John 4:1-2.
“Where Everybody is Somebody
and Jesus Christ is Lord.’’
by Jimmie Curtis
“Blessed rather are those whp
hear the word of God and obey it.”
Luke 11-28 NIV
So many wonderful things have
happened at White Oak that I don’t
know where to start to tell you
about them. We praise God for them
all.
Our opening prayer was by Bro.
Hester Dennis.
Our announcements were by
Billy Burnett. There were as fol-
lows: Wednesday night service and
youth lessons are at 6:30 p.m. at the
church; Thursday night visitation is
at 6:30 p.m. We will meet at the
church and proceed from there.
Come join us, I know you will
receive a blessing.
The White Oak land survey is
completed. The church is in the
slow paperwork process of getting a
clear deed to the land that the
church is on, plus additional land
across the front and west side of the
church. Good News! As soon as
possible, there will be a new
mechanical septic system installed
that will take care of present plumb-
ing problems as well as all future
needs.
We were reminded to continue
praying for those on our prayer
lists, especially those who are ill
They are Barbara Johnson, who is
presently in the Winnsboro hospital,
but seems to be improving, Lou
Bevill’s great-grandson, Zachary
Beville, who has pneumonia and
Betty Schuck’s brother, Joe Hall,
who is undergoing surgery on
Thursday. Also Tommy and Cecil
Deel who are ill. May God meet the
needs of these folks and sthey will
soon be able to be back in service.
Our special Sunday was by Bro.
Mike Stuckey, our song leader, who
did a terrific job and brought joy to
the hearts of all who heard him.
Our offertory prayer was by Bro.
Neil Norton.
Bro. Arlis’ sermon was entitled,
“Things That Accompany Salva-
tion” taken from Hebrew 6:9.
At the invitation, Bill and Wanda
Soden came forward to unite with
the church, Bill by letter and Wanda
by baptism. We wish to welcome
them with glad hearts and open
arms.
Our newly saved young couple.
Cole and Kelly Johnson were bap-
tized, along with Jennie Nolan who
was saved recently. Praise God for
these young people.
Jennie and Jonathan Nolan pre-
sented their young son, Colby
Wayne Johnson to be dedicated to
the service of the Lord. All these
events are truly inspiring, and we
went home with glad hearts.
In our evening service, our open-
ing prayer was by Bro. Ed Taylor.
After a song service Tina Becerra of
Sulphur Springs presented her testi-
mony in song and story. If you have
teenagers who arc somewhat rebel-
lious and hard to handle, you would
be blessed if they could hear this
young woman. It would help them
immensely.
After services, we were treated to
a snack of cake, cookies and dough-
nuts, coffee and cold drinks by Bro.
Sam Murphy.
The thought of the week is,
“Wisdom begins with sacrifice of
immediate pleasures for long range
purposes"
All in all, wc had a wonderful day
in the service of the Lord. You are
invited to attend and witness all the
good things that arc happening at
White Oak. God is truly raining his
blessings on us. May he do the
same for you!

“Those who pay regard to false,
useless and worthless idols forsake
their own [source of] mercy and
loving kindness.” Jonah 2:8 (AMP)
Our Sunday morning worship
service was heartfelt as Bro. Sim-
mons led the congregation in hal-
lelujah choruses and praying for the
sick. The church prayed for the fol-
lowing; Bro. Pruitt, who is sched-
uled for tests Monday, Kay
Fletcher, who was suffering a
headache, and Junell Blanton, who
stood in for her great-granddaugh-
ter, Amanda Sims, who had a high
fever. Bro. Hart also needed prayer.
We began a challenging series of
lessons on the tabernacle as God’s
sanctuary. Pastor Ishmael taught
our lesson from several scriptures
explaining how the study of the
tabernacle offers glimpses of Christ
and how believers can worship Him
and how the church, like the taber-
nacle, is a place where we offer God
our best, and He gives to us His
best.
Bro. Nutt did a good job leading
the choir in great choruses relating
to our lesson. The Ishmaels brought
the congregation to their feet with
wonderful singing accompanied by
the Freedom band.
Bro. Ishmael brings wonderful
messages, that are scriptural and
inspirational, full of thought and
wisdom. His words not only keep
us awake Sunday mornings, but dis-
turb us all week. His sermon
Sunday was from Micah 6:6-8 enti-
tled “What Does the Lord
Require?” He preached part two of
his message Sunday night.
Many names are included on the
thoughts and prayer list this week.
Lift all these people up in your
prayers that they might be on the
mend and well very soon. Bro.
Isenburg gave a praise testimony of
how God answered prayers con-
cerning his mother. In the evening
service Junell Blanton gave a praise
testimony for Amanda being better,
after we prayed for her in the morn-
ing service.
Our prayers and thoughts are
with Jarmon, Vickie, Marisha and
Shyan Harris. Vickie’s mother
passed away. She lived in Burleson.
The youth department had an
interesting message on their bulletin
board which read - “Christians in
Action” (quiet please) county court
in session “God vs. Humanity.”
I was tempted to slip in and lis-
ten. We thank the Lord for the fine
teaching staff and leaders and oth-
ers who volunteer to help when
needed in our children’s ministry
We appreciate Bro. and Sis. McRae
and Sis. Phillips for their assistance,
since our youth pastor has moved to
another church.
We were glad to have Jeremy
come with his granddad, Bro. Lind-
sey, Sunday. Also, Bro. Nunn wor-
shiped with us and played one of
the guitars in the band. We were
thrilled to meet Bro. and Sis.
Phillip’s son, Terry Wayne. Deb-
orah Nevins, who lives in Mineola
,does not attend every service, but
wc arc always glad when she can.
She was with us Sunday.
Mark your calendar for Saturday,
Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. and come hear real
traditional bluegrass gospel singing.
See our display ad in this edition of
the Rains County Leader for all
details.
We are privileged to have Bro.
Barnett for one service only, Sun-
day night, Feb. 7th at 6 p.m. He is
the former state-overseer and is a
great speaker.
Be praying about our revival
coming up Feb. 28th with the
Cleghorns. More information will
be given later.
Hope to see you for Wednesday
night Bible study. Until next time,
God bless.

“You are my Son, the Beloved;
with you I’m well pleased.” Mark

the liturgist; Kolton and Michael

dren’s sermon. Rev. David Diller’s
sermon was taken from Mark 1:9-
11 and was entitled “You’re a Good
Kid.”

service was conducted by Sis.

tions; and two solos were sang by
