The ride on Sunday is a beaut-

4,000 to 6,000 people on it. It
leaves Winnsboro around 8
a.m. and covers some of the
Autumn Trails roads that
Winnsboro is famous for. It
makes a large circle and returns
to Winnsboro. You will sec
many, many people on horse-
back. Mules and sometimes
saddled bulls. You will also
see horse-drawn wagons, bug-
gies, hacks, stage coaches and
tractor-drawn hay trailers.
Ken Hood will have a
tractor-drawn hay trailer on the
ride, so if you wish you can put
your lunch baskets on it. Also,
if any of you would like to ride
the hay trailer you may do so,
providing you let me know in
advance so 1 don’t get more
than I have room for.
Have a safe, enjoyable ride!

Lodge Honors
Law Enforcement Officials
MICHELE BLUNT
On Tuesday night. Sept. 26.
Mars Hill Masonic Lodge
#1440 honored the Rains
County Sheriff’s Department
with a steak dinner at the
Lodge building. Other law en-
forcement officers from State
and Federal agencies were in
attendance.
After the dinner all the law-
enforcement officials, their
wives and the Masons present
convened in the Lodge room
for a short program. L. M.
Braziel was Master of Cere-
monies. and after welcoming
the guests, he asked Sheriff
Wilson to introduce all of the
law officers and their wives.
Braziel then introduced the
speaker for this meeting, H. T.
Robinson from Hawkins Ma-
sonic Lodge #1293.
Robinson gave a vry en-
lightening. Informative and
thought-provoking talk on the
many difficulties law enforce-
ment officials face in perform-
ing their duties, and how many
people think negatively of
these officials. Then he pointed
out that all citizens of a o>m
munity must work with offi-
cials in order for them to per
form their duties as desired by
law -abiding citizens.
The members of Mars Hill
Lodge #1440 are very appre-
ciative of the w ork done w ithin
our county by the Sheriff's
Dept, and other officers who
have assisted the sheriff.
Being law-abiding is one of
the beliefs of all Masons, and
the membership urges that we
all help and support our offi-
cials in every way possible.
